"We went to the Purple Hayes for a simple meal and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food.We shared 4 different dishes and enjoyed each of them. There were several others on the menu we could have happily chosen if our appetites allowed.The restaurant is set out like a big open cafe. I understand they have live music on some nights, but not when we were there. The decor is casual and fun rather than cosy or intimate, Suits the style of the restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient. Our next dish came out promptly after we finished the previous one. The portion sizes were good.Price was very reasonable - $44 for 4 tapas, with a jug of sangria (more like punch) thrown in. Very good value in the Hunter Valley.Well worth a visit."

"My brother's family and my family had a wonderful meal on Saturday night. We were in a side room of this awesome Resteraunt. The atmosphere was private, comfortable and welcoming. The kids were not an issue.....especially when the food arrived! My 12 year old "gourmet" son - won't even look at the kids menu at Daniel's - loved the scollops....his "last meal" before he goes to high school....so he described it. As for the adults, not a thing is left on the plates. The prawn and salmon pancake can only be described as delicious. Never had anything like that before. The presentation was only exceeded by the taste. What an entree! I've never eaten sides on dishes that are so fresh. The rocket, beans and cucumbers for example taste as though Daniel has just picked them from his garden out the back as he prepared our meal. This sums up all the food. Fresh, tasty and made to please and enchant the tastebuds. We all left happy, having enjoyed the atmosphere and food provided by this gem of a resteraunt. We will be back!"

"We don't eat a lot of Chinese food but my son & I wanted to try something different so we decided on Chinese food. We have a couple of local places to choose from & after looking at some reviews, I decided on this restaurant. I grew up in Sydney so I have been lucky enough to try some pretty amazing Chinese food, unfortunately this place does not fall into that category. The Mongolian lamb although very tasty was way too salty! The honey chicken had a very strong flavour of old used oil, the honey could hardly be tasted because of this. My favourite dish when having Chinese food is short soup (wonton soup), the short soup from this place was awful, so bad I couldn't stomach it & had to spit it out of my mouth. I did however enjoy the spring rolls, they were very generous in size & authentically tasty.Overall I give this place a poor rating. I would not return nor recommend eating here. Disappointed I wasted $55 on this terrible food."

"I like the fact that this buffet charges by a child's age and we have a child 7 years hence $7 and a child 10 hence $10 They enjoy a meal plus some ice cream or other sweets.Two pictures attached. There is a modest selection of Asian options along with traditional roasts This place is no stand out but pretty good value and tasty foods.Drink prices also very reasonable.Hunter Valley Experience Tours Simon."

"One of my favourite Chinese takeaways in Cessnock.I ordered a Combination Omelette and large fried rice $23.Lots of great ingredients in the omelette, beef in it was a bit chewy, a few large prawns included. Sauce was more watery than it has been in the past but still very tasty. Fried rice had quite a few prawns, nice change from most places where you basically just get the rice fried and not much else. Very nice tasting."
