"Showed up to Sugarcane without a booking on a Sunday evening. The place was surprisingly busy for a Sunday night but the owner/ manager was very accommodating and found us a table in a separate area. The food was delicious we shared pad thai, san choi boy and asian greens. I had a cocktail - I ordered a pina colada even though it wasn't on their list and they made it for me. The place is very inviting, the décor and the atmosphere is fantastic. A real gem of a place and I now know why it is so busy on a sunday night - great food, great staff and great location. Give it a try. It will not disappoint."

"My family and I were staying at the Crowne Plaza in Coogee for a few nights to explore in and around Sydney as part of our Australia trip. We decided to eat in Bluesalt (in the hotel) as we were all tired. When we arrived at the restaurant at around 8pm, the place was completely empty. A friendly and helpful waiter called Mitchell , gave us a table and took the drinks orders. The food menu appeared to have a wide variety of options to suit everyone. We all ordered either Chicken or steak with sides of seasonal veg and potatoes. After waiting for around 20 minutes, the meals were served. The presentation looked excellent. All going well so far, until we realised that everything, especially the sides were stone cold apart from the T-Bone steak. The chicken was warm-ish but tiny and the other steak was cooked ok, but cold along with the peppercorn sauce. We called over Mitchell and he took away the sides and we agreed to keep everyone's main meals. 10 minutes later, the potatoes come back piping hot. Once we had finished, we called Mitchell's supervisor over and explained what had happened. He was extremely apologetic and told us that the kitchen team were new and didn't know the kitchen well. It worries me how the 4 chefs can't cook for an empty restaurant with 5 people. What if the restaurant was full of 30 guests? The supervisor offered us complimentary desserts and no charge for the meals, and once again apologised. We were pleased on how the situation was handled but very disappointed to not have a good meal in what looked to be a lovely restaurant."

"This place is great. Spring rolls are yum, prawn pad thai is delicious and their beef stir frys are fresh and light. They do charge $8 for prawn crackers which is a little unreasonable but other than that, this place is great"
