"Abren a las 9 de la mañana, te sirven un chocolate calientito bueno tibia que para mi gusto esta mas que bien y una pieza del tradicional pan de yema enorme, y sopeado con tu chocolate súper rico. Prueben los tamales oaxaqueños, las enchiladas. Bueno todo esta exquisito. Muy recomendable y a buen precio."

"The people at my Posada mentioned El Meson. Ducked in one afernoon because it was raining hard. Good selection of beers and mezcales, very inexpensive, nice waitresses. Local Oaxacan clientele, didn't see any tourists. Returned the next evening to try the buffet (95 pesos). Salad bar to start and a girl shaping and making tortillas on the comal while you waited. Chicken in mole negro, frijoles charros, frijoles negros, chile rellenos de queso, nopales, costilla de puerco en salsa, two or three kinds of moles plus salsas and more. Nothing dried out, it's all in sauce. Also with the buffet a sampling of the house mezcal in a small plastic cup. What I really liked? Black beans and rice-- had been in Mexico six days without eating black beans and rice. And sampling different Oaxacan dishes.El Meson Oaxaqueno might appeal to travelers on a budget, backpackers, lonely planet types. About eight tables plus a counter. Inexpensive menu along with the buffet. Not fine dining by any stretch. Not fancy. But I stilled enjoyed El Meson and the prices."

"Excelente, tienes cerveza fría, pero el atractivo de aquí es la comida: puedes pedir una botana oaxaqueña (cecina, tasajo, quesillo, chicharron, costilla) aunque en la carta te dice que es para una persona, lo puedes compartir con otras dos, realmente es abundante y bien preparada, si quieres puedes pedir tlayudas, memelas, si ordenas costilla realmente es un pedazo generoso, puedes ir tanto con amigos como con la familia, muy buen trato y también son rápidos.Casi se me olvida: la entrada, será un picoso pero delicioso caldo de camarón y una memelas para empezar. Altamente recomendable."

"This is one of the best places i have ever been in Oaxaca. Not only the pizzas are great, the salads amaizing, the desert extraordinary, but the service and the vibe were perfect! We got a margarita pizza with extra topins and the mascarpone cheese cake. Both were just perfect. The owner/chef was very friendly and professional and evev gave us for free two mezcal shots!Mezcal is also great!!!!"

"The food here was amazing! There were a good amount of options for vegetarians and lots of exciting food combinations. We had 4 different kinds of tacos, including cactus, huitlacoche (corn fungus and green peppers with cheese. They were all really fresh and delicious! You can choose from lots of different kinds of tacos written up on a chalk board for 20 pesos each. We also shared a really rich tomato and cheese soup. Loved that we were given monkey nuts as an appetiser (such a nice change from corn chips! and all of the spicy salsas were mouth-wateringly good. This place was by far the best food we've eaten in Oaxaca and some of the best value too! Can't wait to eat here again. Thanks so much :"
