"Booked lunch for 4 people and we were very excited to be going to such a grand place. On entering we were greeted with the smell of food as you usually find in an old folks home or a canteen. This was not pleasant. As we were shown to our seats we passed a room with the door ajar where there were silver containers for keeping food warm. I then realized this was where our lunch would be coming from. Our starter were ok and portions quite large. The main unfortunately which we all had was very disappointing. Roast beef was delicious and perfectly cooked for me. Soft and melting meat. The gravy was over salted. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were like bricks. Other veg was fine. Two of the party ordered the biscuits and cheeses at £12 extra. Not value for money. All in al I would not go back. Can’t believe they have 5 stars."

"We were staying at the nearby Premier Inn and wanted an easy meal with no travelling. Always a bit dubious about chain pubs and the food they serve, but this was on the doorstep. I have to say that from the minute we entered we were not disappointed. We hadn’t booked and it was busy, but we were seated with no fuss. Asked to order on the app I am already sweating as I am a fifty something old fart. Not got my readers and I’m technoability (yes it’s a word). Come the rescue. AMY the saint waitress. Takes the full order as she sees I am breaking down. Food comes hot and very well presented for a pub chain. It’s also very tasty. Full bill of two mains and three drinks was £45. This is an excellent pub with great food and staff. Only one minor observation. Get a dark ale or Ruby on the pump. Only because I don’t do IPA. AWESOME service from Amy. (We are not related. She was very good)."
