"This little gem is worth a detour for, it’s run by a friendly couple who are at the top of their game. It’s dog friendly and if you’re lucky you’ll meet their cute little pub dog too! Everything was cooked fresh; they talked us through the menu and were very knowledgeable about drinks. My husband really enjoyed his local Settle Brewery pints. The pub food was great, the lamb shank was the stand out. It’s a lovely historic setting, and on a colder rainy night the real fire (stove) was a welcoming touch. We just walked in but I can imagine that during the season you’d need to book ahead. Closed Mon/Tue."

"Visited top cafe twice in this week perfectly for refueling. some great options if they have coeliacs. all food delicious and plentiful and good for us and our young teens. not too much annoying. look delicious. great to chat about aston one of the pristine themes. love the pac towel in the loo. above, cafe!"

"When ordering our vegetarian order we found out THAT ALL THEIR FRIED FOOD WAS COOKED IN THE SAME OIL AS THE FISH and as was we pointed out to the seemingly uninterested manager and fuming manager that this is not written on the menu to warn all vegans and vegetarians that their chips, sweet potato fries or anything that needed to be fried were in fact not the real real deal The manager was rude and clearly couldn't be bothered and in fact was so rude that he tried desperately to make us feel uncomfortable after complaining which didn't succeed as we just laughed because he reminded us so much of Basil Fawlty from Fawlty towers, but that aside this is a very serious matter indeed and needs to be addressed URGENTLY!!!!!"

"As someone who lives in a city the Fat Lamb is set in beautiful countryside. It was fantastic to look out at it from our room. I thoroughly enjoyed the genuine home cooked food. I made my way through the menu, the pies were a particular favourite. Generous and hearty portions. Breakfast a notch below par in comparison to the evening meals The rooms were definitely tired and very dated. The floors creaked and rattled the cupboard door every time I moved in bed. Noise travelled easily throughout the thins walls. The most important part though was that the rooms were clean and the showers were very hot I would stay another night if I was passing through the area on a driving holiday."

"Having been driving for a while thought we'd stop at THE HIGHLAND DROVE INN . Really old world rustic building Could have sat looking at the inside all day. Friendly service. Will come back. Nearby activities: Your in a area that just takes your breath away. NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST . Great views. Safety: Good footwear is a must. Walkability: You never know what the CUMBRIAN WEATHER will throw at you. Always have plan B. Food drinks: I don't understand why the prices are so expensive, probably to pay for their 2nd home in Devon. £4:50 for a warm beer. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet"
