"10 minutes before booking displayed on our table. lady in responsibility said she was over once she had taken another order: she was not. then she made a whole series of. other jobs for the next 25 minutes so we could wait. Finally, I had to go to the reception and ask if our order could be taken. her answer “I just came”. I pointed out that we waited for 25 minutes. no excuse. Instead, she told me we had arrived before our booking! I reminded her that she said that she would come as soon as she had taken another order, her answer was: "I try to make it easier for the chefs to take the commands out of distance". this was despite the fact that only eight other people were sitting only four of them had taken their orders; all others had menus waiting for their commands. none of them has created a very bad initial impression on a good footpath. so much so that I decided not to spend £21 on sea bass, but get suppe £7.50) instead. the food came within 25 minutes, ironically less time than it needed to take the order. my suppe was moderately 5/10). the sea bass of my sohnes mum was delicious 7/10. daughter pizza fine 6/10). since eating only average service was bad, I would not recommend will not return."

"We have not visited for a few months, despite the pub on our doorstep, due to a decline of the atmosphere and service under the new property, but decided to give it an attempt for Sunday lunch. there was a massive improvement. there is a...better selection of bierales that eat (especially sunnay roast) was excellent and the place is much fuller and has a nice bush again. my only grip was the slow service. we sat up and had to wait a while for drinks. it is worth it now!"

"Good stopover en route to Scotland dog friendly. Room we stayed in was a little tired but clean and did give value for money. Strong point of establishment is its staff very friendly and efficient and also the food."

"2 nights stay, hotel accommodation excellent. Had both breakfast and dinner, food and service very good. Small but very comfortable bar area, with friendly efficient staff offering a good selection of beers and a large selection of gins and whiskies. Great location for access to North Lakes."
