"I arrived in what I thought would be plenty time to eat and still get to the theatre for 7.30 as it is about three minutes walk from the restaurant. When I got there at 6.15 I was told by front of house the girl...said she would see if she could free up a table in a couple of minutes. I bought a drink at the bar and she came and led me to a table saying that someone would take my order in a couple of minutes. Even although there were many empty tables and no-one ever sat at any of them during the hour that I was there. 14 minutes later I decided I had better leave as a waiter was swanning around with a large pepper mill and chatting to one young couple. I went to the bar to pay for my drink and complain about being ignored. Suddenly there were all over me, taking my order and making sure that I would get to the theatre in time to take my seat. The whitebait was very good as was the chicken grill but the service was abysmal. The manager said it was because of the coronavirus a totally unreal excuse saying that head office laid down how many staff could serve that night."

"We have eaten here before during Covid and felt very safe indeed due to the excellent social distance between the tables in the main dining room. As we were about to go into Tier 3 again, which means no restaurants can open, we swiftly booked a table before the lock down. We were offered both the a la carte menu and a Xmas menu. We went for the latter. We started with duck pate and chutney for me and crab cocktail for Barb very nice indeed. We then both had the braised ox cheek in a deep, rich sauce really gorgeous. We finished off with a custard tart for me and a passion fruit cheesecake for Barb lovely. Washed down with a fine Rioja. £99 including a 10% gratuity. A first class meal. Excellent cooking and effortless service. The time between courses was spot on. Overall a fine experience."

"Had dinner with family on a chilly autumn evening. The restaurant has a very welcoming ambiance, with friendly helpful staff. We were all seriously impressed with the service and the food. Great selection of beers and wines and gins, for that matter. I had the John Dory, they had the pie. I had a clean plate, my son had a clean plate. Daughter in law couldn’t finish her pie but she loved it so much, the staff wrapped it and we took the rest home for her lunch. I would highly recommend this place for a special dinner. Next time I visit, I’ll book to stay in one of their rooms for sure! Many thanks for a wonderful evening."

"I can’t recommend this place enough. The welcome as you come through the door from the owner and his new found superstar waiter (Jacob) is second to none in the area. We had family down for the weekend who all agreed it was one of the most lovely Italian meals they’d had. The carbonara was out of this world and the Bolognese and lasagna were just as good. We’ll return again and again as the prices and service are so so good. Jacob the waiter is a superstar and made so much effort with us and especially our little daughter who he kept entertained. He’s an absolute credit to vino vino’s and his family who should be super proud. Top night, top people, go visit"

"With about 45 minutes to spare in Birkenhead I was looking for a pleasant place for coffee, before a meeting. This was my first visit to the newly appointed cafe at the Lauries and was well worth a visit. The cafe is at the back of the building and not well signed, but is worth asking for. Sleek lines ,a range of seating options, and pleasant staff. The menu is ambitious for a small outfit, so we indulged with a great pot of tea, lovely coffee and avocado on granary toast, all washed down with a glass of red following. Service was unobtrusive, would definitely call back again."

Despite their Website indicating they ‘are always happy to accommodate specific dietary requirements wherever possible’ they refused to serve us because a member of our family has a nut allergy. It’s not easy having a nut allergy , especially for a teenager, unable to enjoy the many foods all your pals eat and always having to carry an EpiPen, public rejection only adds to the issues. EstItalian…Please change your website to indicate your Policy so that people don’t rely upon the bookings you have accepted and subsequently refused resulting in embarrassment and inconvenience. Fortunately we were welcomed by one of the other good restaurants in West Kirby that seem to have the ability to cater for common Dietary needs."
