"Don't let the ambience of the ugly brown carpet throw you off. This place serves excellent food---fine dining quality at a relatively low budget price. I started with the cabbage soup. Lovely flavours, with the ground beef nicely spiced. My partner's salad was also exquisite with arugula, beet leaves, red pepper, tomato, all totally fresh. The quesadilla: better than any you'd find at any non-Mexican restaurant (and many Mexican ones too). The freshest tasting cheese, and not overdone. Also had roasted red pepper, onion, tomatoes, and real chicken. Very tasty.Our salmon wrap: also had lots of fresh veggies and nicely cooked salmon. Also appreciated the large portions....I had to take 1/2 my wrap with me. Service was excellent and friendly........had nice discussions about gardening with our server. It can be rather hard to find, as you have to enter from the back. Just drive slowly."

"Walked in early afternoon, place was dark , 2 people in the corner , one person working in back , looked at me then went back to what he was doing, stood there 5 minutes looking at menu, was completely ignored couldn't even tell you if he was an employee, figured he didn't want my business, so I walked out."

"We were in this place Aug 20/2016 and were not real happy. I used the men's room and found that it smelled of urine. The floor was all wet and it certainly smelled. We ordered 2 iced coffees and a 20 pack of timbits and left. Down the road a ways we found out hat we had received only 18 timbits. Not a big deal but we did pay for 20. A few more miles and both of us started to feel ill and had stomach cramps. I really felt sick and both us found the iced coffee kept repeating. We survived it all but one wonders how many others had the same experience or even worse. Not a good way to run a restaurant."

"This unassuming little restaurant was the best part of our stay in Bancroft. Run by a husband and wife team, this couple does everything right, from the warmth and genuine hospitality of Susan (and she is an incredible artist to boot!) and the mind blowingly perfect food from her husband in the kitchen. You will want to eat ALL of the homemade bread, but try not to because you will need room for the main course. The goat cheese and spinach pasta was impossible NOT to finish and the salmon that my (fish-fussy) husband ate was perfectly cooked and unbelievably delicious. Molten lava cake and rice pudding were perfect finishes. We left completely stuffed to the gills and SO SO happy about our entire experience. We promised Susan we would tell the world about Blue Roof Bistro - so do yourself a favor and get in there if you are ever in the area. You won't regret it!!"

"Wonderful spot for fish and chips. Real fresh halibut and good size portions. Would recommend halibut, fries and for appetizer the smelts or chowder.Beautiful view of look out across road.They now accept debit verses just cash!Friendly small town service and always busy with locals. Only negative is coffee is per cup instead of bottomless."

"Go there rather often for the $10 walk in special- 3 topping large pizza. Nothing special about the service etc. Check for soap before using washroom as frequently out."

"Service at the bar was great. I really enjoyed our server I wish I could remember her name (she had dark hair . Loved her recommendations. The other servers seemed a little overwhelmed or just pretty slow at getting to tables/unconcerned.Didn't get to try the food as that's not why we went there. Only thing to note is that the beer became flat pretty fast so I didn't enjoy that but we will go again to try it a second time.Also I don't know what's up with the fact that local restaurants can't seem to access hockey games but thats quite annoying. I'm mentioning it so that the owners can go to the provider and say it has been mentioned. *This had no impact on the review*"
