"Getting busy , middle season , a very hot day and folks were piling in here. We werewarned service might be slow on account of this influx but we were pleased we waited. Food was regional eg salade de gesiers , lovely presentation), very local ... Axoa beautiful finely chopped veal cooked with local peppers, a real treat) plus 3 slices of sheep cheese with a nice dollop of cherry I think) jam .... those 3 dishes for Eur 20 ...great value ! Good carafe wine...nice gateau basque , suoer big special salad with goats cheeese and local ham.....carafe upon carafe of chilled water brought to offset the heat ...it was well in to the 90s.....coffee good too. Une addresse a recommanedr!!"

"A little away but close to the centre of the village is this friendly little gargotte that offers at tight prices quick and a priori dishes, my culture of the subject being limited, typically Basque. I especially recommend the calf axoa that is really very good. the rest of the dishes we tasted were very correct. The map is simple but has a small trap: to get the child menu you need to take adult menus. It's marked, but since we don't expect it, we don't necessarily pay attention."

"The first place we tried was full, so we came here and were so glad we did! There is an air-conditioned restaurant, but we ate in the garden under a large parasol that was beautiful. There are a number of set menus, the basque specialties and the Elzekaria (Great soup with beans) was fantastic, similar to the calves with potatoes (Axoa d 'Espelette) was full of taste. But the pending court simply called 'beef steak' was the tenderest fillet mignon style steak that my son described as one of the best steaks at all! Good desserts and service too highly recommended."
