"Lunch on a sunny March Monday- the market was closed but the cafe open. small, maybe 20 tables, no big TV or loud music, simple decor, photos of all their suppliers on the wall.Prix Fixe is unbeatable for value, quality and quantity. I had eouf cocotte and magret de canard followed by cheese plate, my cousins had the mouelleux chocolate cake, I had a small bite and dreamed of heaven. The menu is fresh everyday with three selections- so you know it's perfect- really large portions..... Bon ApetiteI had made a reservation...."

"First meal in this small restaurant well placed in the middle of a shopping street in the center of Bergerac. The little courtyard in the back is sheltered and really very pleasant, in fact despite a beautiful shower while we run, no customer has been wet. Home and top service, good well served dishes, visibly worked with good products. If I had a little criticism to make, without altering the note because the experience was really good, the prices of desserts are pretty high compared to the rest. Except for that, a faultless one for us"

"We thought we'd try somewhere new for lunch last week and the "house special" on the photos outside looked enticing. However, despite reasonably good and attentive service, the set meal choices we chose did not represent good value for money. The garlic soup was tasteless and watered down, the bread was not fresh ( most unusual in any French restaurant!) and although the "House Special" main plat looked interesting, it wasn't too well presented and actually wasn't brimming with flavours either. The steak was tough too, sadly. On to desserts and we both plumped for the crème brulee, thinking this can't fail, but it did miserably......some kind of caramel sauce from a squeezy bottle poured ( far too heavily) on top. It was somewhat sickly and so unlike any crème brulee one would expect to eat..We decided against coffees and left, feeling pretty disappointed, but two redeeming factors, the wine we chose was fairly decent and so were the staff, but such a pity that the food didn't match.Sorry to be harsh, but this is a fair appraisal of our lunch.PS...if you don't like confined spaces, the cave is a little claustrophobic and this was but a quarter full."

"Last dinner before the start ending our holiday, we opted for a mix: 1/2 chicken farmer and potatoes. ..and a tartiflette. not disappointed, the products are good and received a very good reception."

"It was a hot, late spring day in Bergerac, and I tring to avoid the trendoid restos in the shopping area, we hsppened on this modest, old-fashioned, dark, cool bar/brasserie near a major downtown parking area. I was a bit shocked to see that (a) there were only 4 reviews of this place, (b) they were all in French, and (c) they were all negative. Come again? The service was a little eccentric in that it was a little late for lunch and we had to flag down a waiter (we speak French pretty well), but once that was done, all was well. The waiter brought a 50cl flask of the excellent dry white wine of Bergerac, and I ordered one of the specials on the chalkboard, 'Oeuf a plat, ' and my husband ordered a Salade Niçoise. It took a little while for them to appear, while we occupied ourselves with the excellent white wine and basket of bread, but when they arrived, my, what a treat! My husband 's salade was of the 'deconstructed ' type: all the ingredients were arrayed separately on the plate, to be arranged, dressed and eaten as the customer chose. Everything was fresh, crunchy, tasty, and bright. Each bit wasclearly intended to be appreciated individually. Just seeing the way the fresh cherry tomato slices alternated prettily with hard boiled egg slices around the rim of the platter made us both smile. My 'Oeuf a plat ' dish was a revelation! It was a thin slice of ham over which two 'sunny-side-up ' eggs were placed. Next to this was a perfect, absolutely perfect little salad composed of fresh, delicate, baby lettuces with a mild, fruity, golden olive oil dressing with walnut halves. My sunny side up eggs, the yolks red-gold in color, obviously came from hens who had been fed something like marigolds, in contrast to the yellow but standard hard-boiled eggs used for garnish. This apparently modest lunch was designed to appeal to both the eye and the palette of the customer! This was a lunch clearly prepared by a chef who loved composing a meal appealing to all the senses. It is hard to imagine that this marvelous restauants could have received so few reviews, and those so negative. After travlng many years in France, I would rank this lunch among the finest I have ever been served."
