"This rustic, well-maintained restaurants visited april at the beginning of a sunny morning. a party of two, my father and I were greeted by a spicy middle-aged heart with a southern drawer and a friendly smile that took or name and informed about a few minutes waiting to find space, as everyone was occupied when we arrived. when we were called, we were asked to select any available open table. is a wall table with two chairs where we have taken our seats. After I penetrated the menus and commanded our (I got a touch, pour, side of the cut tomato, all they can eat cookies and coffee) then we waited. I thought it's quite strange that even if we were sitting close to our fellow fighters, they couldn't really hear their talks. perhaps it is the tablemanating of the predominantly native southern mass or only the fact that we were an anomaly in the space of that morning. that means the waiting time wasn't long. I guess 10-12 minutes later, the food arrived. in the middle of the table went a plate of some of the softest, fakissten, tasty, but rather small biscuits for the table to share. 4 different types of sweet spice accents are on the tables next to the salt, pfeffer, sirup and sweeteners for their coffee they should choose so. the eggs were soft to medium. the amount of butter in the grumbs was a little too much of a good thing, but in the position to see the cook from where I sat, I knew that preparation was a work of love. the service was excellent as one would expect from the type of facility that it would find in a john Grisham-Roman in the middle of the 1900s. I could come back in ten years and would know exactly what I expected when I arrived."

"I LOVED IT!!! We kept out of trouble here and it turned out to be a treasure! The restroom was clean, so the dining area. We ordered four meals and drinks. Actually, I didn't expect much, but I was blown away from the fact that ALL of the food was hot and the staff was polite. I have to tell you... it has traveled to two other Whataburgers than we traveled!!!"

"I went in to buy gift cards for Christmas for my father, who LOVES Jack's breakfast. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. I even earned a $5 gift card for every $25 spent. So, I was happy about that...because their fries are my favorite!"

"For what it is I give it 5 stars. A fast food restaurant on a major college campus. We were in town for Homecoming. It was a few hours before game time. Jack's was not our first choice but we knew anything on the strip was going to be packed with wait times. My family of four (two teens) ate for under $30. Everyone commented that the burger and fries was better than expected (Maybe we've become spoiled to think we had to spend $50 plus). I wanted to try their chicken but another day. My kids have never been to Jack's. The staff was very friendly and seemed attentive to details evem though it was a heavy crowd and probably had been for a while. TV for football watching and clean tables."

"Most people probably assume campus dining halls don't serve alcohol, but anyone who regularly gambles on the fresh fruit offerings at Lakeside or Fresh Food Company knows better. Like most people at 8 in the morning, I’m a teetotaler, so I’ve taken to giving the first bite a good sniff before permitting it to enter the temple that is my body. That said, Fresh, as the smaller of the University of Alabama’s two dining halls is affectionately known, is indisputably superior to Lakeside in atmosphere and proximity to most academic buildings. The food, too, tends to be of a slightly higher caliber. The dining hall has two Achilles’ heels, the first being its limited hours. At the time of this writing, Fresh Food Company closes at 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday, and it no longer operates on weekends. It does, however, open for breakfast at 7 a.m. every weekday, making it an excellent spot to fuel up for morning classes. If you come for lunch, be prepared to share a table with a stranger: Now that classes are back in person, the dining hall fills to near capacity between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Fresh’s second weakness is its relative lack of variety. While there are always several options for each meal, it can’t compete with the smorgasbord offered at Lakeside. Breakfast options are more or less equivalent at either dining hall. For lunch and dinner, you can expect to choose between several kinds of stromboli, burgers, breaded chicken sandwiches, a usually lackluster vegetarian option such as egg rolls and noodles, and a rotating cast of traditional American entrées like meatloaf, fried or baked chicken, breaded pollock, pork chops, turkey medallions, etc. There’s also a modest salad bar. Like its counterpart on McCorvey Drive, Fresh Food Company proudly serves Starbucks coffee from a customer-operated machine. As of this writing, chocolate soy milk has been the sole milk alternative available for at least a couple of weeks. One item you won’t find at Lakeside: cinnamon rolls, generally served at breakfast a couple times a week. They’re pretty good, for dining hall fare."
