"Knowing that this is one of the fine dining Japanese restaurant, I walked in with a lot of expectations. Having been to Japan numerous times, I know exactly what s good and whats bad. Overall, we've ordered 5 dishes with 2 dessert. The dessert was tiny but tasty (like wow). The savoury food wasn't as good as expected. The sashimi platter was fancy but I've tried fresher ones elsewhere with lower prices considering its $60 for 24 pieces. The robata lamb was soft and juicy. The crispy rice with tuna was nice. The highlight seems to be the salmon belly aburi (melt in your mouth!) Tempura red snapper can be a miss if you prefer traditonal style tempura. I feel like the service is a rush. Once you finish a dish, the next one comes almost immediately, eventually rushing u out the door. If I need to pay $100 pp for this and this is a fine dining experience, then I think there's a lot more to learn beside simply having a lot of waitress/ers, dark atmosphere and fresh ish food."

"Choices galore for the seafood lover. The market itself is noisy and chaotic but that is part of the charm. Don't miss the pelicans that dot the market. Only minus is that there's no assigned seating and so if you are there solo as I was, you will have to hope for the best - (a) finding a spare table (unlikely) (b) sharing a table with a group (unlikely) or (c) finding an empty bench next to the parking pay station (likely) - after you order and collect your food."

"This is one of the cheapest sushi restaurants in Pyrmont area. The daily special donburi is $7.90 and they have good bento box set. Good for simple casual Japanese good.

"Going to Sydney Fishmarket, I wasn't sure which shop to choose... But my father wanted to eat nice Oysters so were recommended this place which was first shop on the left going in... Turned out the place had everything... Oysters with small, medium, large sizes and prices are very affordable, i prefer the smaller size but my father really enjoyed the larger ones... Salmon sashimi was superb... calamari and few other smaller dishes were great... Tried the Unagi too... Next time i would probably skip the fish and chips though... My wife loves the crabs so it was nice variety for all of us... For people coming from overseas the waiters are mostly Asian so they can speak mandarin, cantonese...read more"

"Fantastic views all around this restaurant on the wharf. Lovely warm welcome as you enter . We started with sashimi plate which was fresh & beautiful . Then the scallop , pork belly & Brussel sprout leaves, beautifully cooked . Prawns were succulent . We then had the John Dory & the Snapper which were beautifully cooked & presented & the flavors were immense . Beautiful meal ."

"The food here is just like what you would have amywhere else just maybe cheaper. And also with a lot of people. Came with a family member who loves seafood but don't think I will be tempted to drive out all the way here for food (along with all the other venues available in the general vincinity) only. I can understand why Fish market was once voted one of top 10 most disappointing tourist spots in the world. Nothing here to be here for except seafood markets"
