"As my dad isn 't on TripAdvisor, I am writing on his behalf. My mum and dad were out walking and they were looking forward to a bowl of soup and a pint. They were outside knocking mud off their boots when the landlord came out and told them there was no point in doing that as they have to take their boots off anyway because they have just had new carpets! Now, we all understand that no-one wants their new carpets spoiling and that muddy walking boots would mess them up. The point is that the landlord was very off-hand. Had he have asked nicely or been that little bit more polite, my mum and dad would have offered to take their boots off before they were asked. They put on their waterproofs and continued on their way. In this instance, the pub has lost business: not a whole loads but £15-£20s worth. In the current climate, surely no business wants that. In summary, For a landlord to speak in the way that he did to potential customer is really doing him no good whatsoever. If he treats all potential customers like this, no doubt the Hare and Hounds will become just another pub with a To Let sign hanging off the wall."

"Second stay here, lovely pub and restaurant. Our room was modern and well equipped, very clean with a beautiful bathroom. Great central location with a free car park, which is a massive bonus. The staff were all very professional and friendly. Big shout out to (I think) Freddie, who looked after us at breakfast. Very polite and helpful young man who is a credit to both himself and his employer. Excellent all round, thank you."

"We go out once a week for a treat (not easy in the current financial climate). We decided to visit Macleods Restaurant for lunch. The staff were great, very helpful and pleasant throughout. But we felt let down with the food. There are only 5 main courses on offer, yet one was not available (the burger) as it had not been delivered! Really, you can’t manage to have 5 options delivered and available. We both had the fish and chips, and both of us found the batter heavy and greasy, so we left the batter. Finally, we discovered on paying that a 10% tip was added without notifying us or mentioning it in any way; it was just added to the bill and then included in the total. You shouldn’t just include it in the total and it is not acceptable to put customers in the position of having to ask you to remove a tip from the bill. Money is tight enough without this type of practice, so sadly we won’t be visiting again."

"We keep coming back to le bistro but the last two times have been a very expensive let down. The scallops were swimming in oil and the bread was certainly not fresh. I had the beef dinner, the beef and gravy were OK but the...roast potoates and the Yorkshire pudding had clearly been left out for a long time and reheated. The staff were lovely, just seems that standards have slipped when it comes to food. I had the best fish meal here a couple of years ago I hope they can return to the fantastic food they used to do soon! At least the dog was well fed!"

"What can I say about this place? from the phone to the book to get there and eating it was absolutely amazing. I booked for 4 of us at 17.30 clock to eat at 18.15 clock and was spoken with friendly and friendly on the phone. when we are there, the place is beautiful, but eating is from this world. the meat is bred, hammered and cooked by the family who own the restaurant and you can say it. we ordered 3 rib eyes and a sirloin and all of us commented we had never eaten better steaks. all cooked to perfection and the sides/ sauces were all fantastic. all staff were friendly and friendly. all in all a brilliant experience and highly recommended."

"To stay over the weekend had an excellent meal in the evening breakfast morning after being, if the best I ever had men's wings his over price there is a travel lodge and mcdonald's in bradford prob it cost the same at the end. the personal is very friendly and professional nothing was much to disturb I could stay quite happy longer."
