"A midweek lunch two adults and two children aged and There was no children's menu, the small plates (which were adult size portions) were far too overwhelming for a year old and there were no child sized desserts. Chips came smothered...in salt which ruined them. Salt was on the table, so the addition of it in the kitchen was unnecessary. Adults shared a baked camembert starter. A large clove of almost raw garlic was hidden in the centre. A mouthful of that, even for a garlic lover, was not a pleasant experience. Overall a disappointing and expensive experience. We will not be returning."

"The food and wine was amazing. However, I was served with a chipped plate for one of my 4 courses which I mentioned to our lady server who told us the chef was waiting on a new order of plates!We began chatting to another lunching couple and had to forgo having our coffee to finalise our meal as the restaurant formerly closes at 4pm and this was now 4.20pm when we asked for coffee.I suggested to our lady server that in future it may be a good idea to remind customers that perhaps as it was nearly closing time they may like to order their coffee with the desert. "Tues 14 March 2023 I’ve driven past this place so many times and finally booked to take my bestie for a birthday lunch. Thankful the staff were flexible and were fine with me bringing the booking forward an hour. Also good easy parking. Inside was welcoming, warm, and interesting. We both had soup to start, with 2 hefty lumps of bread butter. My friend followed with river trout which was a nice size and also had some shell fish with it as well as potatoes sauce. I had the butternut squash in a filo pastry parcel with peas sugar snaps also with a delicious sauce. Both courses were good portions and so nice not to have to then add on another plate of veg as is the case in some restaurants. We were dying to try either the sticky toffee pudding or cheese plate (me) but the meal was ample and we would have been piggies to eat any more. Next time next time!! We didn’t have any wine or alcohol as I was driving and my friend was working the next day so we just had a couple of pots of tea. The meal was a very worthwhile £76. I can highly recommend the Crabtree which, among other things, has the coveted Michelin award. Staggeringly it was v busy for a Tuesday lunchtime, but then if you will serve up excellent tasty food, have attentive kind staff and a lovely place to combine it all its not very surprising!!! I look forward to returning as soon as I can. Thank you everyone at the Crabtree"
