"We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Gill in Rouen. We were told that this was the best French restaurant in town and I could see why. We were awestruck when we first walked in the place which had an amazingly aesthetic elegant look to it. We arrived to an empty restaurant which filled quickly. The best part of our dining experience was easily the 2015 Meursault Vin Blanc half bottle. It was crisp, clean, fresh, and delicious tasting. It was so good we ordered a 2nd half bottle ! We ordered the 4 plate appetizer for us both. It was lovely and featured the fois gras, eel, crab, and lobster. We next ordered the sea bass and pigeon entrees and then finishing with the recommended dessert vanilla pastry. I found the pigeon to be easily the most tasty item tried which was nicely complemented by a glass of Volcae Rhone blend red wine. Overall, this was a lovely dining experience highlighted by an amazing white wine and pigeon entree. The appetizers seemed to lack a bit for me which in the end prevents this place from receiving a TA 5 rating."

"Great staff, very friendly and FULL of energy with a very beautiful humor. They received us cordially and explained the menu. When the food arrived, it couldn't have been better. I wanted to prohibit my share well (which is not common in France) and they brought it to me just like what I wanted. This restaurant was by far my best experience in France."

"My friends and I have visited this restaurant several times, the foods are really good! Especially the teppanyaki! You cannot find it in other Japanese restaurants in Rouen. The chef is so nice, my friend likes specy food, he cooked a special dish for her, and we talked a lot~ we had a happy time here! Highly recommend!"

"Visited this Italian restaurant with my Grandson while staying in Rouen. We had just arrived in the town and our first evening coincided with his year Uni results which were good. We ordered Pizzas which were very good, then desserts, which were also...good. The problem came when we ordered Calvados (a local spirit) to toast his good results We waited while we ate our dessert, and then the waiter came back with a huge plate of salmon and other shellfish. Apparently there was a problem with the communication of the order. The owner was NOT pleased that we did n't want this dish why would we when we had just eaten large Pizzas followed by desserts ? There were raised voices and angry scowls (by the owner and waiter) and a jug of water was clashed down on our table. Fortunately our holiday guide happened to be passing and he calmed the fiery owner down, explaining that we had ordered the drink Calvados and not some similar sounding fish dish. (We had pointed to the drink on the menu when we ordered by the way). We had our Calvados drink but the episode did spoil the evening celebration rather. I could not face returning to the restaurant because of it. I later discovered that another couple had had a problem with the ordering. He ordered Escalope and was brought Scallops ! Better waiter communication is definitely needed. Having said all this, the food was VERY good."
