"We came here after our tour. Some dishes were great others were just ok. My favorites were the young sprouts (not sure what veggie), the eggplant with ground pork, and the fried omlette (though this got greasy fast). The meats were a bit in the dry side. The staff was friendly and the place was clean and easy to find. We sat on street level outside of the restaurant. I don't knew if that's a regular table or they set it up specially since we were a large group. We heard that you need to make reservations at least 2 hours prior to when you want to come in to eat."

"Muang Thong came as recommended from various trip sites. Garlic Fish was highlighted as one fave dish. This place has always been crowded every time I passed it by for 3 nights I was here in Chiang Rai. Definitely one place that is popular with the locals. So as far as the food, they're not bad. They're not as cheap as you expect, slightly more expensive than what you can get from the nearby Night Market Food Court. Case in point the Garlic Fish costed 250B, whereas the night market food court charged Deep Fried Fish for 150B."

"If they ever find themselves with a busload of vegans in rural, distant norths thailand, that is by far the best place to bring them. another sign in front of the door says it is open every day in the cool season. for unknown reasons, it is hard to find a vegan massuman curry in chiang rai – the only place I know is occasionally at the buffet in the phartom city. this place has it and another special curry on the regular menu, as well as several daily “specialities” I have seen nowhere else. the relevant question here is whether it is worth the trip to get out of here. Of course, if they are already in the neighbourhood, they must stop it and try. for 150 baht, I was not completely done by two. the curry was tasty if a bit watery, and could have used some fruits. many kartoffels and since then and went nicely over the small bowl rice. the other one I tried was crispy pork over kale, and it had a nice bite to it additionally with garlic (so unusual for a Thai-Jie place.) the mock swan was made from very different material than I used it, almost like a cryon. I will definitely try again on the menu. the place has a fantastic display and atmosphere on a organic farm, with plants and flowers everywhere, beautiful, huge fountains on the filiale and even a children's play area. if they sit on the second level and enjoy the view on the back of the huge building, the sound of the traffic can even be removed from the autobahn. sweet cats strip the spatialities free and seem very happy. each friendly and welcoming, and the chef speaks English well. updated by the previous review on 2020-01-12"

"Local Thai food at its best can be found at this restaurant. If you like Chinese influenced dishes like Jab-Chai (literally ten veggies), stir-fried mushrooms, bitter gourd in clear soup, etc. you have come to the right place. The venue is spacious for sitting, albeit larger vehicles may need to park further away from the restaurant. Generally, the place looks clean and well-lit at night. The taste I can say is okay to nice, depending on personal preference. The service is quite random. There seems to be only one cook who prepares fresh dishes. The waiting staff is abundant, but always busy due to the high volume of customers incessantly buzzing in to order either in front at the stall or at tables. If they forgot your order, you can cancel if they remember later and deliver it when you are full. By all means, try it out!"

"Listed under various names, I think Youta (the name on the yellow banners) is actually the brand or supplier of its veggie protein ingredients, as it 's on other restaurants around town, including a calendar hanging in more than one place. Jay or jie just means vegetarian, and the owners just called it something else when asked in Nov. '19. In summary, Chiang Rai 's veg restaurants will make you work to try them, and 99 is the prime example of a place whose great food and friendly service will lead one to overlook irregular opening days and difficulty ordering in English. The first time I went, I got a nice fake fish filet dish with banana flowers and red sauce, which may or may not be what I pointed to on the city 's most concisely amusing English menu. Had to buy a bottle of water, which would have been on the need to improve list. The second time, I really enjoyed the pad Thai and sausage survive. They threw in some tea even though there 's now free water up to local standard, and some Asian fry bread donuts. All for just 40 Baht, the value for made-to-order dishes rivals Green by the bus station, and with more variety and flavor. I 'll definitely go back and try something more adventurous, and if it 's closed just keep biking to a diffrent place and try here another time. There 's only two large tables, the kitchen is in front so you can see exactly how they prepare your dishes. Definitely a mom pop operation worth supporting. After four months in the city studying Thai, it can be discouraging how well most people speak English in the city. So this is probably the best veg place in town to get some high stakes language practice, and the owners are very patient, friendly, and willing to teach the farang how to speak correctly. Veg options on Sundays and Mondays and for dinner in CR are limited, so I was happy the first time on a Sun. dinner, but it was closed then when I tried again. The second time was lunch on a Mon. Maybe there 's a pattern, and I hope another reviewer can figure it out. It 's worth trying at random anyway. Call this a 3.5-star place due to the unpredictable opening days, but again spin Thai practice positively, and the food is great."
