"We were a little daunted by the pricing - but, hey it's Cairns right? It is to be expected. But wow the portion sizes matched the pricing. Really good sizes - 1 main + rice will feed a couple nicely. Really tasty and some of the best Chinese food we have had in ages.Also, we ordered the Steamed Pork Buns for an entree. The waiter came back out from the kitchen and apologised that they had just sold out. Shows that they are not frozen, but made fresh and and only have a certain number of portions. Really good to see. Service was a little slow - but it shows how popular the place is and that food is not "zapped" to get it out faster, but made to order. When we received our order, the wait was forgotten with the first bite of the quality and taste.We will return when we are in the area again."

"Small establishment serving mainly Japanese food, with Chinese and Korean influences. Usual variety of sushi and bento meals, with plenty of appetisers. We ordered salmon, prawn and chicken sushi rolls, and katsu don. Good portions and prices, great flavours. Take-away available, with limited seating inside. We especially liked the super friendly staff and discounted sushi rolls at the end of night. Will definitely return to try larger dishes next."

"We are a few in brisbane (originally from China.) we had to admit that mr. soy boy is the best restaurant we have tried in cairns. authentic Asian cuisine and excellent customer service! one must look for something different and delicious. we only found the reason why we should come back to cairns is soy boy."

"I cannot believe after going here for about 7/8 years that I have to say - I WILL NEVER RETURN. Went with a group of 5 people last Sunday night - the waitress we happened to get is unfortunately one of the rudest waitressess - can't even smile or be nice - which is a shame. So we all sit down - drinks take forever, water takes forever, she takes our order and another 4 or so tables come in and they all get their food b4 we do....finally the waitress brings out entrees, one of them we explain to her we didn't order, she just looks at us blankly and says nothing - so whatever we accept it. Then main meals come out - I specifically asked for my red curry to have no tofu and that I would like it with med to hot chilli - hardly any chilli and lots of tofu (I have been ordering the same dish here for over 5 years) You would think that they may know it by now. Anyways I started eating it and then thought, bugger, I called her over and explained could I please have it without the tofu and with med-hot chilli...she rudely took it away and came back with another dish about 5 mins later with no tofu but also no chilli - I gave up and ate half of it. I went to pay the bill and the owner knows us quite well, I explained to him that my dish was not satisfactory, he said oh you have to order with no tofu...I explained to him that I did ask for no tofu - basically at this point I am talking to a complete starnger and might as well be a brick wall. So arrogant and unhelpful and yet we have recommended this place to so many friends and family!! UNBELIEVABLE....I said to him after the same conversation went around for a few minutes - you are the owner are you not? He said yes - I said ok, well I am giving you feedback as a loyal customer - are you not interested or understanding what I am saying here - basically couldn't care and ignored my comments - I paid and he said see you next time - I said ummnn I dont think so buddy - we will never come back here again - I also explained to him how rude the waitress was to all of us at the table - he ignored this also. What is wrong with people - honestly...my curry was so runny and it used to be thick and creamy.....like watered down dishwater."

"Popped into this popular neighbourhood restaurant early on a Friday night & were lucky to get a table before the reservations were due to arrive. The smells from the open kitchen were divine so our taste buds were primed for some great flavours. The food did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and delicious, with menu items veering away from the traditional Thai classics to add a little extra spice and variety. We're vegetarians so tried the vegie spring rolls, a tofu dish & a spicy rice noodle dish. Great service, great presentation, lovely decor. Wins all round for anyone lucky enough to get a table at Samgasat."
