"I was looking for a place for simple swadood dishes and saw the great reviews so decided to check it out. First of all, the prices are up about 20% from the last review, still very reasonable but not as cheap as some of rhe reviews mentioned. 2nd of all, it is not easy to find, down a tiny alley and right at the end. 3rd of all, it really felt like going to a friend or relatives house for dinner. Very unpretentious, simple cooking with good ingredients. we ordered the clam came cooked in white wine, butter) , the Octopus in green sauce super tender, boiled, not grilled but tiny serving) and the seafood rice came in a pot). Clam and Octopus form entree menu. The stock in the clams was excellent, the stock in the seafood rice was good as well but not as rich. But the rice was al dente and it was PACKED with seafood, 4 large unpeeled prawns, 4 peeled prawns, chock-full of mussels and clams We asked for some hot sauce and for 3 different types. Legend! We also had half a bottle of excellent Douro Valley red. all in, only Euro30. delicious and comforting."

"Our kids have been obsessed with fresh seafood and found mariscaria among the so many restaurants in the market. They were assessing the menu and were wondering what barnacles tasted like so adriano pulled so out to give them a try. Not for them but glad they tried it! They ordered a combo and literally ate up every last bite! After the meal they wanted to try razor clams and Adriano generously gave them a taste on the house kids and curiosity are a great combination. Highly recommend this place when in the market!"

"Was very pleasantly surprised after seeing mediocre google reviews!! Definitely our best meal in Portugal thus far. Attended as a party of 5 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The sea soup was one of the best seafood bisques I have ever had. Also really enjoyed the cod! Would recommend trying, as it is hidden in a small road, with great and quiet ambiance."
