"We met up with friends plus beagle dog at the Bayhorse , Ellel near Lancaster for a second time this year , while away on our hols in Cumbria . The food was even better than our previous trip in April which...was pretty good then too Had amazing starters , locally produced cured salmon pickled beets pork terrine that we couldn’t get enough of too ! This was followed by super tasty confit of duck legs , seasonal spiced red cabbage , beautiful compliment of jus with blackberries ended on a great homemade orange almond cake . We have eaten in many great gastric pubs restaurants all over the UK are fussy the quality of the food and the excellent , attentive service welcoming feel given by the staff certainly made it worth the trip . Thanks for giving us such a nice time we heartily recommend this place , for a great relaxing lunch with really good tasty food nice atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble either . We will be back if we had this quality inn on our doorstep , we would be back far more often . What a real gem of a place !"

"The food was delicious. I got a steak and egg crepe. It was huge and when asking for a take out bix they offered a card with instructions on how to reheat. Cute vibes, friendly service, fast turn around for food. Highly recommended this spot!"

"I typically don’t like italian food but Osteria Alla Romana was by far the best authentic italian food i’ve ever had. I ordered the pappardelle with shrimp and mushrooms and i was questioning it a little while ordering but once i got it it was the best food ever everything was home made and fresh down to the mushrooms you can tell he made everything from scratch. the desert was delicious as well got one of each and none of them disappointed. the owner/cook was very friendly the whole time he really completed the homily feel of the restaurant. this is by far the best restaurant i’ve been to i highly recommend this to everyone."

"What a wonderful little restaurant!! From the moment I went to the door, the staff was pleasant and welcoming. You order your food at the counter, then sit and serve as soon as the food is ready. Food was quite fast to come, and absolutely delicious. I ordered the framed minced meat with a blueberry muffin on the side while my wife ordered an Omelet. The broken potatoes were very good! The seat is somewhat limited, but the tables seem to turn quickly. I would highly recommend and in any case be myself again"
