"In the deceptive summer of 2021, I really used every suitable opportunity to eat and drink with friends or colleagues. And if it didn't fit, it was made fitting. In this case Magdeburg matched between Bremen and Berlin and so the colleague and I sat on the beautiful terrace above the Elbgestaden and let us pamper with Rocco Esposito and his team of dedicated, well-trained young ladies. There was a lot to talk, private and service, so I had to neglect my chronic duty. But some beautiful photos can also please! But what will the strict GG community say to such Schlendrian? Finally an Italian cheese plate (10.9€ with Taleggio, Gorgonzola and Pecorino with pistachios. Optic the companion armada of fruit, fig-musard, strawberry kiwney, Grissini and black butter. "Because the name of the restaurant at Hotel Herrenkrug forces word games. My first visit to the well-maintained Hotel Ensemble with connected gastronomy in the spacious, wonderful park. “Beautiful, really beautiful!” was my first thought. The interior of the guided buildings can also be enjoyed as a historical ice cellar and festivities. The hotel rooms, on the other hand, fall a bit, for the level of the house something came in the years, a renovation would not hurt soon. All in all, as was previously expected (maybe!, when the Patriarchin “executed” the Clan family for a round birthday. Today no one wants this anymore; I don't. The culinary evening began with hot, crispy potato corn bread once a nice change and not too dry. There was a very boring herb gurke and salted butter, unfortunately very hard. Both served under Mini Cloches. The kitchen was then colourful: salmon fresh cheese Tatar, Applechutney and Red Bete Hummus, finally another potato chip. The latter stood for too long in the moist components and was almost completely pappy. It doesn't just happen in the season, it doesn't change anything. Otherwise, creation was well thought and well done. Milk product moderated the saltiness of smoked fish, the apple gives sweetness, acidity and some bite and in the very creamy hummus the earthness of the beet was still clear. A gentle, harmonious entrance; Maybe the missing crunch of the potato slice... The robust smoked tuna was amazingly juicy and had a pleasant smoke aroma. From the basil announced there was little to notice in the oil, but there was only one saving amount. The wild herbal salad with pine kernels was ok, although I don't think that caterpillar is very wild. Soup went on. The clear essence came very hot on the table and had only one hint on tomatoes in the finish. Otherwise a (very salty broth. The self-made “red” noodles had a light dough, but they were tasteful as colorful brutally boring. The aromatization, for example with dried tomatoes or even better basil, could certainly have meant an improvement. No reason to eat the dish “beautiful empty”, except you are hungry or freezing. Well, it should follow a few passages and it wasn't very cold in August. That's why I ordered another icy cucumber soup with Balsamico beads, which would have been as reasonable, my mistake. The consistency was quite thick, but many herbs produced pleasant taste with the cucumber. I was looking for the vinegar first. The addition had been forgotten in the kitchen and the service had not noticed. Too bad. The pearls, which were only supplied with demand, then set beautiful accents with their acidity. The fish course was waiting with a surprise, because the two very small sea diapers of Medallions were spun on lemongrass tribes. They had red staromas and were not fried dead, but still quite juicy. All right. The vegetables of the ratatouille were very small and had hardly any noticeable taste, dominated onions and too much salty black olives. The Tagliatelle finally came neatly and had a rich yellow from the saffron. That's all. A creamy refreshment in the form of two balls sorbet with fresh mint While the sea buckthorn was unexpectedly mild, I liked a slightly fruity bitterness with the other. Could have been red genever. The onglet presented in a detail was very delicate and structured, strong roasting note. The reduced Jus did not suffer as the first product of the evening under their strong saltiness. And even in this band the supplements fell. The gratin was cooked exactly, but in turn too little seasoned. Especially against the sauce there was nothing to taste from the light thyme note. Although Mediterranean vegetables differ slightly from ratatouille in their composition. Tastefully nothing remained. Too bad that the meat would have earned more expressive fellow players. With the Tawny Port also from Rozes (10,8€) a cheese course came to the conclusion, which was firm and without failure, Hübsch was dressed. Nussbrot tasted. Not wrong, but quite conventionally the accompaniment of grapes, walnuts, Grissini and for the eyes of strawberries. This can also be the end. The season provides a decent program without highlights, probably for an audience that is less surprised. Good products are not only neglected supplements, but also an evergreen of the upscale Hotel Gastronomy. (Why are the exceptions more commendable! Performance does not justify prices.
