"This place has some nice pre-cooked home-style Vietnamese dishes displayed in the hot food section. In fact it is quite convenient to buy a couple of dishes to bring home and eat with rice. The pork mince paper rice-roll "banh cuon" is particularly popular. The sour fish soup is also nice. And don't forget the Vietnamese iced coffee with milk "cafe sua da". But don't expect silver cutlery or clothed tables, the place is rather basic !"

"I give this restaurant two stars for its ambiente, friendly staff and a good cheeseboard. but apart from that we had a very bad experience at this place: weeping and eating were terrible. a glass champagne, the end of the bottle, was flat. inevitable at $12 a glass. the fish was oversalted and almost unusable. the raclette was greasy and tasteless and the accompanying salate oversalted. it took an hour and 15 minutes to produce the net. it is mid winter in melbourne and the restaurant was cold and it was very unpleasant to wait for all the time for our meals. After complaining about the terrible fish, I was not accused of what I appreciated. but we don't give him a second chance."

"My daugther found this place. Hopkins St is very busy all the time, so parking can be an issue. We got ours takeaway. Dumplings, spring onion pancake, all picked up hot and steaming. Tastes fantastic, sauce was provided as well. Only downfall is they don't speak very good english, so understanding"

"This place has been recently refurbished which caught my eye.<br/ The service needs some work and the pricing is roughly in line with the area.<br/ I order the Pho with sliced beef and brisket.<br/ The broth was flavourful and clean tasting.<br/ The brisket was probably the star of it. Sliced thinly and slow cooked that it just fell apart in my mouth.<br/ Probably one of the best Phos I have eaten.<br/ The sides could probably look more fresh as the bean sprouts were limp looking.<br/ <br/ Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again, even with the other options in close vicinity.<br/"

"We were the only ones in the restaurant at 7 pm on a Wednesday night. The service was very good and we were well looked after. Food did come out in dribs and drabs. Food was excellent nice and fresh and hot. One little concern was the owners of the restaurant had their little child running around the place making quite some noise and it was annoying. This place did get very busy towards the end of our meal. If you want a good feed and nice and cheap well worth a try."

"Pictures will not do this place justice. Have you craved an authentic bowl of Banh Canh Cua Thit Heo or Bun Bo Hue? You won't find it anywhere else in Footscray. Dong Ba has quickly became one of my favourite spots in the west. Meals being roughly 13-15 a bowl. You'll find the most authentic Vietnamese flavours and smell here. Don't take my word for it, go and experience this yourself. And if you are a durian lover, boy do I have news for you! Durian smoothie is the go here, feeling like a naughty cheat day? Give yourself a treat and see how you'll fall in love with Dong Ba just as quickly as me. I've been here so many times and every friend I've recommended it to has loved it too!"
