"While staying in Les Rousses, by pure chance we came across this nugget, a breathtaking setting. Nestled between two steep slopes, on the Franco-Swiss border. Lulled by the tinkling of Comtoises, the menu is simple and authentic almost exclusively composed of fresh and local products, how not to succumb. The service is family-friendly, generous and comforting, punctuated by the buzzing conversations of the locals who come to take time off from their work over a drink (or more). You will be welcomed by Maya, one of the most adorable Bernese Mountain Dogs wearing a Swiss collar coming from table to table, for us no doubt the mascot of this establishment. We can only recommend this restaurant, this experience. That day we fell in love with Switzerland, a heartbreak to have to leave. "We went for a family day to St Cergue during the beautiful autumn weather we are having currently. The leaves are changing to brown and the views were sublime. We needed a family friendly restaurant to have lunch, nothing special and the Restaurant du Jura...in the centre of town looked like it would fit the bill. We should have read the warning signs on the boards outside and taken the hint from the waiter's exhausted attitude. From the start we felt like a terrible inconvenience. We were posted into an airless corner and given our menus and then studiously ignored for 30 mins. The food was eyewateringly expensive and we needed to argue to get a carafe of water alongside some other drinks. We were the last to be served in the room, after 3 groups of 4 who arrived after us, despite us telling the waiter we needed to feed the kids. The food was tossed onto the table after over an hour of waiting and part of the order forgotten...you get the picture. It went all the way like this. Really not a family restaurant and definitely not worth the price or the attitude you have to put up with. Extremely disappointing."

"Nous etions un parti de 5 et nous sommes arrêtés pour déjeuner sur la terrasse. Les boissons ont été servies rapidement, mais après ça, les choses sont descendues vite. Nous avons dû demander le menu et ensuite seulement on a donné une seule copie pour cinq. Après une demi-heure d'attente nous avons alors dû demander (deux fois) pour quelqu'un de prendre notre commande. Les gens arrivaient aux tables voisines et étant servi. Quand nous avons finalement pu faire notre commande nous avions une autre longue attente. Quand les gens aux tables voisines, qui étaient arrivées longtemps après nous, étaient servis leur café, nous nous sommes levés et partis pour déjeuner ailleurs. Je skie régulièrement à St Cergue/La Dole et je ne visiterai jamais, de nouveau, ce restaurant We, a party of 5, stopped for lunch on the terrace. Drinks were served quickly but after that things went downhill. We had to ask for the menu, and then only one copy was given. After waiting half an hour we then had to ask (twice) for someone to take our order. People were arriving at neighbouring tables and being served. When we finally were able to make our order we had another long wait. When people at neighbouring tables, who had arrived long after us, were being served their coffee, we got up and left to have lunch elsewhere. I ski regularly at St Cergue/La Dole and I will never visit this restaurant again."
