"We're in Saint Hyacinthe this week on business and on one of those days we meet some colleagues for lunch at Restaurant l'Espiegle. This is a nice restaurant in the old downtown Saint Hyacinthe in some of the very old buildings here. It's a small place that has been renovated to bring out the old architecture but it is done very tastefully. Our colleagues order a bottle of wine, the selection is quite extensive as I suspect most would expect in higher end restaurants in this part of town, I don't know much about wine but this one was very good. We order items from their lunch menu, I stated with their house made soup, which was a sweet potato soup and it was quite good. My main choice was the grilled salmon and that came with grilled vegetables and a thinly sliced chip like potato and this too was very good. I topped my meal off with a specialty coffee that was spiked with Baileys and Amaretto. Everyone seemed to like what they had and the meal overall was great. I would not hesitate to return to Restaurant l'Espiegle next time I am in Saint Hyacinthe and would recommend this to any reader."

"On my way back from Québec City, I stopped at Casa Flora for a quick dinner before continuing my treck home. They do not serve liquor or wine, it is a bring your own wine establishment. A bit of a disapointment but not their fault, this is the type of restaurant. I ordered a breaded shrimp plate that was quite greek style (sort of an imitation of Casa Grecque). At first, the look was ok but when the tasting began, the rice was bland from having sat in the warm table for to long. The same goes for the garlic butter that tasted almost stale (again coming from the steam table). All in all, the food was acceptable at best. Will not return."

"Wow. I'm not sure why I'm going back. there was a time when I enjoyed casa grecque, but this time has passed. we were with a group of friends with children. not only was the menu almost the same, it was expensive....The eating was pale and tasteless. the service was meh. cannot even remember if it was good or not. a regrettable experience. I suggest they skip this place."

"Every year we visit Saint-Hyacinthe friends we have known forty years. Two years ago we met in au vieux duluth. we were very impressed by the quality of eating, the atmosphere and the selection of items on the menu....We returned this year to find it was still good, but had a beard. the menu was more like the menu of a family restaurant and the teller came with the kartoffels and rice combination of the usual American Greek restaurants. we were somewhat surprised because this was not our experience two years ago. my man and I had the fillet mignon and it was very good. we all brought our own wein and we all had a very good evening."

"I'm glad I tested this nice little restaurant. I loved the decor and the atmosphere. I expected a strong smell of coffee unfortunately there was no roast this morning. (required to return .) my Benedictine eggs vegetarian were perfect. (the spinach eggs are one of my favorite dishes.) in short I liked to have lunch there and I think I'm going back before I left. a little less but less still: the spice on the eggs completely distorts the taste of coffee. It's best to finish its plate with fresh fruit and drink a sip of water before drinking it."

"I prefer to make my own pizza, at home, from scratch. I make the dough and sauce fresh. It's worth the time and effort to get the perfect pizza. Good pizza is hard find; the business is dominated by chains, using factory produced ingredients. Restaurant Roma's claim that they've been making pizza since 1965 is certainly believable. Their crust is obviously hand tossed, and their oven nicely browns the fresh toppings. Their menu seems somewhat jumbled mixing Greek and Italian with hamburgers, sandwiches and Poutine; I guess that they are trying to appeal to every taste. Nonetheless, I would only return for the pizza....likely take-out."
