City: Cordes-sur-Ciel, Place de la halle, Cordes-sur-Ciel, France, 81170
"I've been doing research in this area for fifteen years, and I depend on Les Arcades for a delicious and hearty lunch, almost daily, when I'm in Cordes. I don't even look at the menu the plat de jour is always best and least expensive, and...I've yet to be disappointed. I also love the acoustics under the massive market halle conversations are rendered in soft tones by the surrounding limestone."

"Maison Moulin was once a centrepiece of both the Cordes gastronomic scene and the wider area around. Monsieur and Madame Moulin ran the place superbly well and oversaw the production of a wide range of viennoiseries, bread, cakes, ice creams, chocolates etc of the highest standard and quality. Sadly, this is no longer the case. M. Moulin retired nearly two years ago and the transfer of ownership means that this is not a place I would recommend. The standard and quality have fallen and the prices have risen. Not a good combination. The service (both at tables and the counter) remains good but it must be sad for those who are long-serving members of staff to see the decline. I hate to write a negative review but this place is just not what it was."

"How can a restaurant in such a location serve such incredibly bad food? Having been to this wonderful town for 10 years were glad to find an open restaurant, as the rest of Cordes was closed. Having eaten in this restaurant a few times we thought, yes ok, let's go there. The mise en bouche was a joke, dry toast with some fishpaste on it. The cassoulet was tasteless, and the duck breast croustillard burnt and tough, supposed to be pink. The staff were so nice though, we did not complain, but we would only go there again if we were starving and nothing else in the Tarn would be open. Really, Monsieur le Chef or Manager, don't rest on imaginary laurels for French cuisine but try harder this season! Also, the name of the restaurant, which is part of a hotel, is confusing. The sign outside on the road says Toni'nt (or similar, can't remember precisely), I don't know why it calls itself a bistrot, the name of the hotel is "Logis Hostellerie Du Vieux Cordes," and the website for the whole enterprise is http://www.hostelleriehvc.com. So when you read reviews on the internet and then actually go there, you must ask your way through to almost the top of the old town. I find it such a pity that this enterprise is so poorly marketed, Cordes surely has deserved better, this is an old town which is a bit struggling, to be honest."
