"The waitress, the atmosphere, the food, it was all meshing well to create a friendly mellow atmosphere. The Waitress was attentive but never overbearing, the grilled squid and eel was tasty and went well with the exported beer they have. The only thing is the place is small, but I went when there was no one and it was just perfect. A good place if you are new to Japanese food. My coworker and I took a real long time to figure out what to order and the waitress was never pressuring us. She was very patient which made us real comfortable to look through the whole menu."

"Visited this restaurant several years ago. Visited again on a Friday night at 5:30. The restaurant was 25% full. Surprising as it is usually busy, busy, busy.Upon walking into the restaurant, we noticed that the floors were very dirty with food and napkins. Ok. We sat down were given menus. The bench seating was filthy! Food bits all over and from the appearance, hadn't been cleaned in some time...or the customers are pigs! Our male server came up and took our order in a unfriendly and curt manner. No pleasantries such as "How are you, may I take your order?" Our food arrived, the sashimi was not the freshest but the edamame serving was extremely large. Our bill for 2 came to $35. So very reasonable.While we ate, our server cleaned the neighboring table with a dry napkin and his hand. Pushing crumbs onto the floor. No wonder the place was a mess. No sanitary spray or cloth for cleaning. Not impressed!Upon paying the bill, the visa machine gave an automatic 15% tip :( definitely not what was deserved. Also, for tables of more than 10, they charge a higher tip rate.Soooo, I think we will never return to this restaurant. Very disappointing experience by service staff and the food quality."

"We loved going here as a family. The previous owners knew us by name even though we only visited once per month. The menu changes and the name change and the service change just was too much for us to keep coming back. We only tried it twice since the ownership changed and it was not the same as before."

"I really enjoy sushi from the Sushi Garden as it is close to home and convenient for the exit. The sushi is always fresh and delicious, and you have a lot to choose. I'm not meeting anyone who doesn't like sushi from Sushi Garden....Maybe among the best if not the best sushi place in Burnaby"
