"First time patrons at the Bedford location. The staff were excellent as was the food. Decor was warm and welcoming. Very reasonably priced and the food was great. Very nice touch at the end of the meal when we were presented with fruit slices as a finishing treat. Highly recommended."

"Awesome little Vietnamese restaurant on Barrington Street. Had a good bowl of the P9 - pho with beef balls and rice noodles. Great speedy service and staff were super friendly.Came in for an early dinner and was seated straight away. It was quiet - only about 4 other tables of patrons in the restaurant, but I'll put that down to coming in at 5.30pm to have dinner. They have a varied menu with both Chinese and Vietnamese dishes on the menu and decent portion sizes. Lots of people stopping in to collect takeout orders, but the staff were always around refreshing teapots with hot water and asking how the meals are. Prices are good for downtown Halifax."

"This place is a gem! We had dinner here yesterday and spent $105 plus tips. We had the Cantonese Chow Mien, Crispy Salt and Pepper Squid, Hot n Sour Soup, Chicken and Pork Stomach Soup, Steamed Chicken in Ginger and Scallion Sauce, 2 side white rice and 2 pops. Portions are very nice. Each plate is to be shared with someone. I’d say all of the food we ordered can easily feed 4 people, we ordered anticipating to have leftovers to take with us and we did! I tipped extra for good service, and for all the takeouts that we’ve ordered from here through Uber Eats. As chefs and big eaters, we highly recommend this place!"

"As soon as we walked in the door it was the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen that won us over. This is a great find if you like authentic northern Chinese food. Don't expect fancy linens - the table covering is brown paper. But you will come for the huge menu and delicious food. We had a spring roll, a meat egg roll, pad thai and curried mixed vegetables. The servings are large and the pad thai was the best I've ever had - amazing. I didn't like the meat egg roll but my friend did. I just didn't find the texture appealing although the flavour wasn't bad. Our server was sweet and was ever so tactful when we enquired about a fabulous smelling plate went past us. She said "You probably wouldn't like it" and pointed to griddle cooked pork intestines on the menu! She quickly suggested two other items that we might like. I appreciated her honesty! I look forward to returning to The Forbidden City and may even take advantage for their free delivery (within 4 km) one evening."

"This makes my top 3 list of the best sushi places in hfx! My dad and I have been going there for lunch and occasional lunch for years now, we've never left hungry or disappointed. Service is great! Sushi is always fresh, never "fishy" and always presented nice. Oddly, the mango "dessert sushi" was fantastic. The woman who worked there gave us a free sample, fantastic! The salad included in the lunch combo is absolutely great, very palate cleansing. Love this restaurant!"
