"We were recommended to the Goldener Schlussel because of our interest in trying some typical Bernese food. The maitre d' MIchael took good care of the five of us from beginning to end. Four of us had a braised beef dish and one...a local trout all of it was very good, along with wine and wonderful desserts. The service was congenial and interested in our experience, and we are most happy to have had a taste of local flavors."

"If you like salty food served by waiters who have no heart for their job, this is the place for you. The dessert was the only saviour. Brought the wrong sized bottle of water, and brought an additional bottle right size when the issue was...raised with them! Overbilled by one bottle of water on top of the two that we had. Only they know if it was deliberate or not. Do yourselves a favour and pop round the corner to Klosterli Weincafe."

"Ich war schon oft geschäftlich hier zum Essen und war nie enttäuscht. Die Deklaration der Fleischherkunft muss nicht lange gesucht werden. Die Qualität der Speisen halte ich für hoch, gute Weinauswahl. Das Interieur ist gediegen, der Service zuvorkommend. Manchmal etwas lange Wartezeiten zum bezahlen (eine kleine Kritik). Ansonsten solid."

"Having read good reviews about the restaurant, I booked a table for dinner with friends from overseas and the food did not disappoint. I had the Vienna schnitzel, which gave me a fright at first as it covered almost three quarters of my plate. Having...overcome the first shock, I proceeded to taste the fries: hand cut and delicious. My friends had the roast beef and sausages with salad and we all loved our meals. The service was very good, we felt welcome and left happy. The only downside was the lack of ventilation or air conditioning. It was hot outside and just as hot inside, we used the menus to fan ourselves. But I guess this is only an issue in summer : ."
