"My husband and I holidayed in Nancy in August this year, and one a very stormy night we went out in search of dinner. This restaurant is located very close to the main square and in good weather would be a very interesting people watching spot. As most of the storm had passed (and we were soaking wet) we sat outside, which was quieter than the very crowded and interior of this restaurant.The food was reasonable and the service was good. But the main reason we found this restaurant overwhelming (in a good way) was that after we left the restaurant and started walking back to our hotel, I realized I had left my handbag on the back of the chair!!! Whilst that in itself was bad enough, the killer was...... it contained our passports as our hotel did not have a safe. Dread was all I felt as we were only staying in Nancy for one night, but just as we turned to rush back toward the restaurant (probably a 5 minute walk) one of the waitresses was rushing towards us WITH MY HANDBAG!!!!Relief and amazement that she had not only noticed the handbag, but had cared enough to look for us rather than wait for us to come back. Thank you to those lovely people, if you care that much you must also be great at your job and care about the service you give to your customers."

"It was a bit difficult finding a restaurant that was open on Sunday night when so many restaurants were closed (partly because it was Sunday, but also because of Covid slowing business). We went L'Excelsior because the reviews here on TA were solid enough to...make it worth a try and we weren't disappointed! This is a classic brasserie that could easily appear out of Paris in La Belle Epoque. Our servers spoke English enough to cover areas where my French was lacking and were VERY professional. We were very happy with all of our dishes (my braised pork cheeks with cider and melted apples was amazing as was the hum baba we finished the evening off with. They are located a minute or two from the train station but well enough away from the tourist spots by the Place Stanislaus so it is a much more peaceful location for dining."

"Quality ratio unbeatable price! Effective and pleasant personal service. It is well felt that the products are really fresh and homemade at 95% up to the leafy paste of delicious pies. Formula at 18 euros (May 2019) flat entrance, or flat dessert 1 drink and gourmet coffee very rich in homemade pastries for 1 extra euros! To crown all this is really good, this day the black net. We're having fun. I highly recommend! Just taking fresh products into account is a reduced card and, in my opinion, it is better so and not too late it could miss dishes on the menu of the day as it was for us."

"Accueil sympathique et sincère.Nous qu'il n'y ait pas un immense choix, cela nous rassure, c'est une garantie de fraicheur et de fait maison. Il y en a pour tous les goûts et il m est d avis que, quelque soit le choix c'est bon, voire très très bon.Les 2 salles et le patio ne sont pas grands, pensez a réserver.Service efficace, nous étions 6 et avons été servis en même temps.Tres bon rapport qualité/prix pour une cuisine traditionnelle mais efficace.On reviendra, pour sur."

"Plats traditionnels de la cuisine française assez classiques, que l'on pourrait aussi bien manger dans une brasserie, mais pas au même prix ! Les pièces de viande sont correctes, mais rien de surprenant, les haricots ne sont pas frais et pleins d'eau... On se demande ce qui justifie de tels tarifs. MLorsque l'on cuisine des plats simples comme cela, soit on mise tout sur les produits, soit on fait un effort sur le prix !"
