"Attended a nice dinner with my wife. Portions were huge compared to other places we have been. Meat pie was actually full of meat !!! Unlike some other British pubs that serve a pastry with a spoonful of meat. Salad was fresh and plentiful as...well. Beer was cold, food was hot. All in all a great night."

"Visited the restaurant to buy a gift certificate. We approached the bar and requested one and were told "What? I can't hear you!" Repeated our request. "How much?" And after passing her our money, she gave us the certificate with a nod to the door "You're all set". There was no greeting or thank you for your business. Just an uncomfortable, unwelcome and rude interaction. Having previously dined here with a mediocre experience, we had considered staying for lunch to see if the food had improved, but after this reception, we had no inclination to stay. With so many wonderful restaurants in Kingston, one would think that first impressions and word of mouth referrals would be important source of business. It does not seem to be the case with Chien Noir. Would not dine here nor recommend this establishment."

"Walking along dt I randomly found this spot. So shocked its actually a Cantonese place! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find good Cantonese food nowadays? For cheap! I've tried their combo specials. Its a great deal for like 12 bucks, comes with egg roll(a bit salty for my taste), fried rice and meat and veggie. Try the lemon chicken. Tip ask for sauce on the side so its still crispy when you get home. The owner seems like a good guy and an honest hard working cook. He told me theres no AC in the kitchen and he's busy all the time, gotta feel for him. He's been doing it for years and the other customers i bump into inside seem to like it. So I've been coming back. If you are looking to try something different maybe give the Singapore fried noodle a shot or mar po tofu."

"We had a great lunch there and enjoyed every morsel. Would return in a heart beat. The wait staff were attentive and nice. We enjoyed the spanakopita, chicken souvlaki dinner and chocolate cake....all were delicious.To be honest we also had the baklava which was just ok...but chocolate cake was very good!"

"Absolutely horrible. Food not good, atmosphere dirty brick, service by young woman appalling. Loaded our table with large styrofoam containers while we were still eating. An embarrassment and disaster for Mother’s Day."

"Small pub with a somewhat rustic atmosphere. Great food, great prices, and the owner was very kind and welcoming.I read a review saying there was an hour and a half wait and the staff/owner was rude,THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE due to the fact that there is nowhere to wait to be seated ??? and you will never meet a more gracious host.Thanks Stooley's for the great eats.. ?"
