"Unfortunately we will not be back. we have eaten regularly here, every other week. eating is incompatible with coming and going from different cooks (and management has to wonder why the good do not stay! . last time we were there, it was a catastrophe and we went out, and we were not the only! we waited almost two hours and finally came a teller butterpastea for my 11yo and it was indefinitely uncooked and stuck together. and how hard is it to do that right?! the table next to us was served fish that was uncooked. the tables began to talk to each other, how bad that was, and we started to go. poor paul, head waiter and a nice guy...read more"

"On a recent trip to meet friends we decided to eat here I was less than impressed. The first member of staff who greeted us was very welcoming and friendly, the other was rude and obnoxious. Our orders were taken quickly and the drinks were bought out in good time, then the waiting began. The food took far too long. In that time we didn 't get asked if we wanted more drinks, my partner had to go and ask for service and for an update on the food. When the food arrived I asked for side plates, mine was dirty so I kindly asked for a clean one, the look I got from the member of staff was that of someone who had taken personal offense. The food was mediocre at a push. Oh and what is with the salad bar? We didn 't realise it was there until we left, is that for 'special ' guests? It would have been good to have know so we could chew on some salad during the wait for our food! I don 't mind food being late if we are kept informed and apologies are offered but that was not the case. It wasn 't even busy when we arrived so that wasn 't the reason the slow service."

"Chose the cap feathers as a host pig for our weekly essex hash. super friendly host (peter linda,) very welcoming, with a good selection of beer. very pleasant, and hopefully will be back to try the pub grub."

"Absolutely fantastic meal at the Green Man, what a transformation this lovely village pub has undergone in the past year, the new owners have embraced the village and it’s community delivering the food,service and a fully restored interior and garden area, this pub has not delivered this quality of food for many years , and finally we have a chef who knows what he is doing, along with a very good landlady in Alda and her competent staff you couldn’t ask for more. 6 of us had dinner last Friday evening and it was all exceptional, well done and keep up the good work ! I can also highly recommend the roast dinners that we have had on many occasions. Simon Ruth x"

"I had finally completed my visit to each and every civil nuclear station in the UK and we wondered whether there would be anywhere for a pint and a sandwich. We elected to drive to Bradwell Quay and this PH was just about the last building before the sea. No sandwiches were on offer but instead a selection of pub favourites, from which we chose gammon, egg and chips. Very pleasant and the beer was good as well. A very convenient and pleansant pub."
