"For the second time running our order has not turned up in time. We phone the order through at we are told delivery will be between Once again I am phoning at to ask where they are as we have a...lot of meetings on days. I am lied to and told they will be there in the next They were still not there at when I had to leave to attend a meeting. The poor delivery times is an absolute joke made worse by being lied to on the phone. I am afraid that us carrying this on days has now stopped. Once is a mistake, twice is a poor performance."

"I usually enjoy a visit to Marples with the pleasant atmosphere and friendly waitresses but today I had an unusual experience. The waitress who greeted us couldn’t even muster a smile as she showed us to our table. Then after a five second glance at the menu and the specials board she tried to take our order a little impatient if you ask me. We ordered our meals and drinks and we tucked in after having to collect the chips off the table that the waitress had knocked over. Disappointingly, a chainsaw was needed to cut through the extremely dry over microwaved lasagne. Not wanting to make a scene, I held off getting up to complain and anticipated that a waitress would come and ask if everything was okay, like the normal service that you’d expect in a cafe or restaurant but sadly to no avail. We got up to pay the bill shortly after and when the waitress at the till finally asked if everything was okay with our food our honest answer wasn’t to her liking. We explained that the lasagne was a little bit dry and asked if she could let the chef know. Imagine our horror when no apology was given and instead the person you’re giving your money to just pulls a face and tells you the total for your bill. An apology costs nothing and such a shame that the standards in food and customer service has slipped."

"Had our annual Christmas night/meal out last night at relish bar. We booked our table and paid £5 per person deposit which equates to £70 and requested one be gluten free which they said they could do. Our table was booked for 8:30pm which when arrived still had the booking prior to ours still on the table we had booked which was not an issue as we didn’t mind waiting for them to finish there drinks whilst we waited at the bar. We ended up being put at a different table as the people still on ours did not want to leave, the table we was put on did not accommodate all our party however we was given extra chairs at the table and we had to figure it out ourselves. After being sat there an hour we finally was served our starter of olives, stale bread and oil. We then went on to wait another hour for our mains of cheese and meat sharing boards nothing ordered need cooking. On speaking to the waiting staff about how much longer it would be she politely said it still hasn’t been prepared and apologised, we reminded her of the gluten free we requested for one which we was then advised they don’t have any gluten free option available! As we had waited so long we said we wish to cancel as was not happy with the service received. The manager did not once come to speak with us and left it to the poor girl who had been serving us to tell us that the manager will not refund our deposit and we had to pay for the dismal starters of £25 also even though they had already received £70. The only reason I am giving this restaurant a 1 star review is because i can not give it a zero. We will not be going to dine here in the future and advise others to stay clear."

"Went for Sunday lunch as we are trying all of the local eateries to see which one serves great food, and where possible the service is good. Greeted and shown to our table but were asked what we wanted to drink before we had even the opportunity to sit down !! The food options appeared to be comprehensive and the price point is towards the top end of what is being charged locally. Being totally honest l did not realise there was a non negotiable 10% service charge until we had ordered. I would not have ordered if l had known as it’s virtually unheard of in Lincolnshire. The service we received did not reflect this charge !! The starters were competent however the main course roast was decidedly average. Some vegetables were very undercooked. My main beef was sliced so thinly l am not sure how the kitchen managed it ! Staff were slightly intrusive trying to get additional drink sales, and glasses and plates were whipped away as soon as possible. In short we felt rushed and not relaxed. Was any one niggle enough to complain about, not really. Put them all together and the answer is we won’t be rushing back."
