"We had high hopes after the restaurant changed hands. Garry Prebble the previous owner had lost interest in the food service it seemed and was increasingly not a people person. Enter Nick Stone. He is just not a Redfern person. He immediately hiked the prices in this neighbourhood it's most unwelcome. $40 for a main is criminal. Nick is a hospo guy. The tatts and the style is not French and not Redfern. I've heard from neighbours he is not easy to deal with either. The food is not quite french. It's a hodge podge of loosely based themed stuff. It's not regional or faithful to any identifiable Gallic culinary tradition. Overall another same samey place trading on a romantic concept."

"Thursday night and they had no redbull or energy drink available to mix with vodka, fine. Vodka lime soda- single shot served in a very tall glass, essentially just straight soda water. Second vodka lime soda ordered specifically in a short glass, was served vodka and lime Cordial with soda, still couldn't taste any vodka. Service seemed unenthusiastic and un interested. "Loud noisy dogs.Impolite staff,average service,okay prices,alright pinball machine an a short walk to either redfern or central train station.An despite their written notices saying otherwise,when me an my mates went there the standard of 'social distancing ' was not on 3 separate times properly observed putting...peoples health seriously at risk!!How many other pubs doing this??!!!Me an my mates will go an spend to better service an more friendly pubs which 'practice good health measures instead of poor health standards!!We enjoyed leaving more than staying"

"Got a good deal on Eatclub for a late week night timeslot. Unassuming little Japanese restaurant in Redfern. Cozy, welcomed on arrival. Our table was ready. Hot tea and beers came out quickly. Ordered Gyoza, seaweed salad, and set boxes. Miso soup and a upon noddle dish were served first. Really tasty and fresh meal. Had an enjoyable time, loved the meal. "We only attended for the food, and the entrees, which were s&p squid and cheeseburger spring rolls were absolute perfection, will 100% be returning for the squid, the mains were parmi with chips and salad which was delicious and a sirlion (rare) with chips and salad and i gotta say, although the steak was cooked perfectly, it was flavourless. All i could taste was meat and the grilled part. There was no pre seasoning or anything. Wouldn't pay $38 for it again. Otherwise, it wasn't terrible. Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Quiet"

"Absolutely loved my lunch at Bistro St Jacques. I had the oysters, scallops, duck cassoulet, and creme brulee. I was very surprised at how tender the duck was, and it was very flavorful. I thought everyone there was very friendly and kind. Best meal I had on my trip to Sydney."
