"2night stay for Taunton races. (Under 10 minutes away by car). Everything was very good. Room was huge and very well maintained. Pub was friendly and welcoming, staff were brilliant and food was spot on. Will return."

"What a nice, friendly pub. the employees are attentive and polite and there is a really great atmosphere in it, no matter in which time of the day they go. an absolute must is the steak. especially Thursdays, 2 steaks for £16. You could think that because it is cheap, you should be careful. absolutely not! we have eaten at some really expensive places and the steak at the shep’s is 100 times better than any one of these places! it is always cooked as they want it and the quality of the meat is amazing. it is always tender and smiling in your mouth! the knife just slides through. the other thing we recommend is the chili nachos .. - aazing! only the best. only good quality at affordable prices. if you haven’t eaten in the shepherd’s rest recently, give it to you. forget all the trendy restaurants that have opened up in the city centre. we have tried most of them and they are not all! we would choose this pub over each of them! very recommended for everyone."

"Took over three hours to eat a meal, terrible. Service was extremely slow and never got asked if we wanted more drinks. Chicken Korma was worst Ive ever eaten, tasted like Heinz chicken soup. Wouldn’t recommend sadly."

"Stayed at premier in and had evening meal and breakfast at this beefeater. Food was fantastic and great value too. We had Simon wait on us breakfast time,(He made us very welcome )and it was cooked fresh rather than buffet so fabulous . We will definitely stay again and will look forward to eating here."

"I was fortunate enough to be taken here for lunch yesterday with 3 friends who all live in Wiveliscombe. What a treasure of a place. A lovely friendly greeting on our arrival, it was a bitterly cold day but it was so cosy and warm inside. The wine was very drinkable and the food was delicious. Looking forward to returning here."
