"Whilst looking for a restaurant for a Saturday evening meal, prior to going to the Theatre Royal, we found this gem on Tripadvisor. With only a 2 minute walk from the theatre, making its location idea. Booking online was easy and we promptly received a confirmation email. On visiting the Soulville Steakhouse, we were not disappointed the staff were very friendly and attentive, the decor and atmosphere was superb, the Motown music was wonderful. Just a great place to eat at. Oh, by the way, the food was excellent, we both had steaks which were delicious and very reasonably priced. The whole Soulville Steakhouse experience was 5 star and we'd recommended it to anyone!!! It was so good, we've rebooked for our next theatre trip."

"I made my order yesterday night and I made a note of the restaurant before I made my order and made sure to tell the restaurant that the door of my house was at the back and not at the front. The delivery driver (syed) refused to listen to this and discussed with me for 20 minutes on the phone, when I told him that he had paid for the delivery, I expected it to be ordered at my door, as it was my right. I was knocking at the entrance door (however, this is the one-bedroom door), so what I was touching was wrong and I was waking someone in that room, which seems awful to me. Then I contacted the restaurant and told them this, where they told him to go to the back. I asked them if there was nothing they could do since my food had probably cooled, and they told me nothing could be done. Given that it was like 01:40 a.m., the delivery driver entered the back and opened the door to pair and shouted loudly loudly without bothering to knock on my door, I was upset. Then he gave me my food and then discuss with me again wondering where your door number is, and I said I wouldn't be with you on the phone if it wasn't a delivery for me at this time of night. Then I tried to call the restaurant again and I got no answer. I called them tonight and asked to talk to the manager, where they told me who he was talking to was the manager. Then I told him the problem of the night before, and he said to me: Yes, I remember that we fired the dealer now, since we had a lot of complaints about him. In addition to the conversation, I realized that he was not the manager and he lied to me and had discovered that he had not fired the delivery driver. I asked if something could be done or if I could get some of this since my food came late and cold, with a argumentative controller in which I received a response from the restaurant in a sarcastic way informing me that they were busy and cutting the call. I am in all my rights to this and I am upset with staff and their rude behavior. the food was not tailored and I will never order here again."

"I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely return. Great location just a few minutes walk from the town centre; with plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés on your doorstep. Some previous reviewers said they were disturbed by noise from other guests, maybe I got lucky when I stayed because I didn’t hear any noise apart from some music coming from nearby bars on the Saturday night. But it wasn’t so intrusive that it disturbed my sleep; having said that though I was on the 4th floor. My room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Special mention for Alex who works in the adjoining Bar Block Restaurant where you have your breakfast she’s an absolute superstar and a great asset to the business!"

"My friend and I arrived and were promptly seated in the bar area because there was a whiskey tasting session taking place in the restaurant. The bar area was small, a little dated and had a pointless fish tank in the alcove. We were given a menu and after about 10 minutes we placed our order. We both started with the homemade fishcake which tasted lovely but was very small and thin and very sloppy £4.70). We both then ordered the 12oz rib eye steak cooked rare £15.90), and separate side dishes my friend a tomato and onion salad, and myself, the potato gratin £3.90 each). The steaks arrived after a small wait and as we suspected they would be, were over cooked. However, they tasted fantastic and my friend would rather not go back to a place than complain) so we plowed on. The potato gratin was very nice, but my friends tomato and onion salad was very bland. We then opted for the chocolate almond cheesecake and I really wish I hadn 't bothered because what we received for £5.30 each was a slice of a peanut cheesecake I 'm so pleased I 'm not allergic) from either Lidl, Aldi or Ikea! Although most of the food tasted nice we won 't be returning because if you 're paying £20 for a main course, you want it to be cooked right and I was really annoyed about the cheesecake !"
