"Having never been in this place, we weren’t sure what to expect. But it’s a large, open dining room with some of the fresher aquatic dishes swimming around on one wall. It’s most definitely an authentic Chinese and south Asian restaurant, but the staff could understand us and gave us suggestions. We had a couple of noodle dishes and the pork chops, with tea, all absolutely excellent. Will definitely be back!"

"Excellent food, very clean and amazing staff. Their sweet and sour port and spring rolls are just wonderful. Just enough spice that makes the food delicious, I took a To Go order of the spring rolls because they are just that good! And because of the Coronavirus scare, the restaurant was so empty, it was so sad to the see the employees in such distress. I was told that the amazing owner was still going to pay their wages regardless. I encourage everyone to at least call for takeout and support this business as much as they 've always supported us with great food."

"Review: Golden Unicorn, Maroubra.after not visiting here for a few years it was a pleasant surprise to see that they'd renovated with a swish update. The tired old rickety stairs to the restaurant were gone and on entering the restaurant the space was clean looking and modern.It wasn't very busy being mid week. The service was friendly enough but had to ask twice for the fresh chilli and soy (which was heavy salty soy and very few chills with no seeds drowning in the sauce.The seafood dumplings were average at best, some slightly overcooked and falling apart. Not big on size or flavour. The stand out was the vegetarian mushroom dumplings which was delicate in flavour but delicious.From the fried trolley we had the fried prawn dumplings, again not big in size but good flavour, crisp and hot. Sadly, there was not a lot to choose from. No sesame prawn rolls, or garlic chive rolls.The best dish was the steamed eggplant and tofu with fish past. This is one of the best version of this I've had.Unfortunately, the two stand outs are not enough for me to keep coming back. That and the air conditioner right on top of us that was freezing and chilled the food in minutes.Food: 3/5Service: 3/5Cost: $$$$/5 Not cheapCleanliness: 4:5MSG level: 2.5/5"

"Before the cafe has undergone refurbishments, the menu was not only more extensive including a number hawker favourites such as Assam Laksa, Poh Piah, etc, the food was authentic, delicious and value for money. We have since found the food lack the expectation of the early days. In a recent visit, I was appalled by the service of the young man behind the counter, who lacked product knowledge and communication skills in dealing with customers. This was highlighted by his refusal to refund a middle aged customer who ordered a counter takeaway drink but changed his mind after seeing that it was not what he had in mind."
