"Review: Golden Unicorn, Maroubra.after not visiting here for a few years it was a pleasant surprise to see that they'd renovated with a swish update. The tired old rickety stairs to the restaurant were gone and on entering the restaurant the space was clean looking and modern.It wasn't very busy being mid week. The service was friendly enough but had to ask twice for the fresh chilli and soy (which was heavy salty soy and very few chills with no seeds drowning in the sauce.The seafood dumplings were average at best, some slightly overcooked and falling apart. Not big on size or flavour. The stand out was the vegetarian mushroom dumplings which was delicate in flavour but delicious.From the fried trolley we had the fried prawn dumplings, again not big in size but good flavour, crisp and hot. Sadly, there was not a lot to choose from. No sesame prawn rolls, or garlic chive rolls.The best dish was the steamed eggplant and tofu with fish past. This is one of the best version of this I've had.Unfortunately, the two stand outs are not enough for me to keep coming back.
