"Tramonto: used to be my favourite restaurant - high end cuisine with an Italian flare. However, the last 3 of times we went I was sorely disappointed. New chef. So many technical errors and amateur moves. Recently our starter salad was half a head of iceberg lettuce each hacked into long lengths, not seasoned, and seriously under- dressed with a fairly decent blue cheese house dressing. It was like a child made it. The main which was a shared rack of lamb on a plank with root veggies was however very well executed with the meat being done to medium rare perfection. The long time serving staff are still excellent (I wonder what the must think). The time before that, the chef ruined the raw oysters by putting some over-boiled beet confit (right away nasty! Boiling beets depletes the flavour) that was not even seasoned. There was no seasoning on the oysters whatsoever and no lemon. Nasty. My sea bass entree was horrible, I mean awful. It was dry and overcooked and the spinach accompaniment was also overcooked & dry and there was no sauce. The time before that there were seeds in our oyster lemons (a technical error I overlooked at the time being the first offense). My couscous was undercooked large Pearl couscous (tacky). Furthemore, everything remotely Italian has been extracted from the menu including my favourite - seasonal risotto. It is with a heavy heart that I will put this restaurant behind me now and seek out something new while visiting our favourite mini-getaway spot at the River Rock."
