"Gnats used to be amazing. First place I would eat on my annual visit to St. Simons Island. Their salmon and scallops on their signature slaw was top drawer. Last three times, new owners, gradually went downhill. Yesterday it was just plain bad food. Service still friendly and fast. But the food was greasy, over fried, pieces of overcooked chicken were mixed with the fried pickles. The chips were dripping with grease. Onion pie swimming in grease. No more salmon or scallops. It has become more of a bar with food an afterthought in my recent experience."

"Great experience here. Handcuffed Fries and Sweet Potato Fries were great. Fried cheese curds were a little overcooked, but the taste was there. Hubby liked the Rueben. And the ranch is in the house!! We're going back."

"Last time we came for only drinks, which were excellent; the location and ambiance make it a great place to have a drink. The sangria is on point! This time we ordered the fish tacos, which were 6/10. Mostly for the fried fish which may or may not been stated. The Greek salad is a regular iceberg lettuce and stuff, plus black olives, saturated in Italian dressing. The food is delicious for being standard and seemingly not fully prepared in house. Overall, the location, drink menu and ambience makes it a great stop if you're spending a day in St. Simons."
