"I enjoyed my meal when I was in San Francisco and I ordered it to be delivered to my hotel . I decided to walk to the place and eat there and ended it in the Mission area plagued with drug addicts on opioids who surrounded me . I found the place with Google map but found out that you cannot seat down and eat but do take out only . I was disappointed. I will never forget how the drug addicts were in the neighborhood. I had never been close to people like that . The restaurant is good for take out only . The prices are much higher than in Florida . The coconut rice was over $4 , the entrees over $12 for lunch . The quality was good though ."

"There is piping hot ramen that hits the spot at Tanpopo in Buchanan Mall in Japantown. They have assorted shoyu (soy sauce) and miso ramen as well as some non-noodle dishes like broiled mackerel and gyoza. You can eat at the counter and watch Japanese TV. The only unusual thing about this place is that they don’t serve hot tea unless you order it from a can or bottle which is displayed on the counter. They will heat it up for you and serve it in a teacup. It’s odd, but I can overlook it since the ramen is so satisfying. Service is hit or miss, they are friendly but some servers are better than others. It seems at most places in Japantown, you go mostly for the food than the service."

"The food was absolutely delicious. The waitress was fun and attentive. She made suggestions on dishes and the best ways to eat them as well as suggestions on new drinks which were delicious. The restaurant was darker and had a more intimate feel to it. My only criticism is they do not have the capacity to accommodate a large group comfortably. We had a large group and were seated in a small room with a small fan. The fan did nothing and it became hot and uncomfortable quickly. With a small group, I would have no complaints. Highly recommend."

"A very good sushi restaurant! I eat sushi like once in the week and when I visited san francisco, I checked the restaurant and the sushi rolls really liked, very good taste and fresh salmon. we also ordered the grilled salmon and cute empura. the place could look closed, but it was open with closed door."

"This place does Ramen right. The Black Garlic is the heavy hitter on the menu. Service is good but can be a bit hectic around dinner rush. It is also quite loud in the main dinning room."

"If Umai Ramen house was in another place or city I imagine it would be a 5 star no problem. It’s just that it’s competing with some other truly amazing ramen in Japantown. However, it’s often impossible to get into my top ramen spots there at peak times and Umai rarely has a wait. The ramen is solid but not extraordinary and the side fried rice is the best deal around and very tasty."
