"MY FAVOURITE SUSHI PLACE!. Now I say this is my favourite sushi place NOT for the sushi but for the service. Honestly, I am fine eating sushi that is good but not great if it means I get great service. I would rather spend money and tip large at Happy Sushi than at some franchise restaurant to some server who is providing service solely for a nice tip. Vivian, the wife, is soooo sweet. I absolutely LOVE coming here. It's worth coming down just to get to chat with her! For sure the environment is a little different when she's not there serving (which is usually during weekday early afternoon..shes probably taking care of her kids or something) but whenever she is there, I PROMISE you will get great service! The stamp card is also a great incentive to get me to keep coming back! Every $10 you get a stamp and they add up fairly quick!! I eat at this place at least twice a week and have been doing so for a really long time and probably will continue to for a reeeeally long time! Thank you Happy Sushi!!"

"I had one free evening in Vancouver and wanted to have some really good sushi. When I googled "best sushi in Vancouver" a couple of lists included Sushi Itoga and since it was just down the street from my hotel it was an obvious choice.It's a simple, communal-eating style place - no booths or private tables that I could see - which was fine for me on my own. I read while waiting - the sign told me it could be a 40 minute preparation time, but it was only about 15 or 20 minutes. My edamame came right away and were very tasty.The sashimi (2 kinds of tuna and salmon) was absolutely fantastic - melted in my mouth. The ngiri, on the other hand, hardly even looked fresh and was decidedly ordinary. And the maki roll... barely worth eating with a mushy texture and no flavour, even though it was supposed to be spicy tuna. The sashimi saved the meal, but I'd try somewhere else next time in hopes of a more completely satisfying experience."

"The staff here are courageous, heroic human beings, especially the hostess with the ponytail and red lipstick. I was visiting Vancouver on business and learned very quickly that it is an overrated and unsafe area full of aggressive homeless people. I was walking downtown trying to find a good spot for lunch and I ended up getting followed by a drug addict for the 29th time that day. I was fearing for my safety and walked into the first place I saw, which just so happened to be here. He followed me into this restaurant, caused a scene and started yelling incoherent things at me. The fearless warriors at this restaurant did not call the cops or 911, or tell the man to get out of their restaurant where there were people clearly uncomfortable with the whole scene, but what they DID do was the AMAZING act of giving me a place to sit to regain my bearings after such a traumatic scene! What thoughtful, caring heroes! I think Mother Theresa works at this restaurant with how protective they are of the people who enter their establishment! And it gets even better they never ONCE offered me a drink of water or food, or asked me if I was okay. But they are heroes because they did the bare minimum and gave me a place to sit! SOMEONE GIVE THESE PEOPLE THE PURPLE HEART!"
