"Beautiful, breathtaking, creative, sweet, savoury, vibrant… Deer Almond crafts a gorgeous and intimate dining experience that I was truly surprised to find in Winnipeg. Patrons must try chef’s imaginative tasting menu that includes inspiration from Italy, Japan, Germany, Ukraine, and others providing an tasteful experience that is somehow new and nostalgic. The restaurant is warm and cozy, while the service provided makes every customer feel personal as though they’re a celebrity that evening. I had no expectations and only went because a local (and very smart) barista at Little Sisters Coffee Maker recommended it, but I left feeling like I just had the best meal of 2023. Deer Almond is perfect for a romantic evening or an occasion worth celebrating as there is no doubt you’ll leave beyond satisfied. I recommend the bone marrow w/chanterelles, goldeneye nigiri, beet agnolotti, and peanut semifreddo (which has been on the menu for 11-years). As my bartender said, I’ve only tried a quarter of the menu, so I’m ecstatic for my return (hopefully soon)."

"I was there today with a friend. The menu has changed since the last time my daughter and i went. The food used to be excellent, today, it was the worst meal I have eaten in a long time. After praising the place, i was embarrassed. The toast that came with burrata was so black, it looked like charcoal. When the waitress came to ask, I told her and she said sorry?? Will never go back and sorry i have recommended it to so many people. What has happened and why did they change the menu?"

"Went on a Saturday for dinner. Not sure what some of the negative reviews are about as our service and meal was exceptional. We sat right beside the cook station and saw nothing but 2 chefs turning out great food. We did see them snack on a carrot or other things, but certainly not off of an order to go out. The speakeasy setting was very warm and upscale. Loved the look of it.The server was very informative and made great suggestions about the menu and wines. Our wine was a perfect choice, light and slightly acidic since our food was going to be very rich. The appetizers were perfect. Escargots were tender, but just chewy enough in a glorious garlic buttery sauce with cheese melted in served with nice crostini bread. The beef tartare was super fresh with a nice golden egg yolk on top. The slaw with it was a very nice contrast to the rich beef.The hanger steak was a recommendation from the server and it was executed to perfection. Nice sear on the outside and perfect medium rare on the inside. The parsnip puree was creamy and light. The filet mignon was equally well prepared. Just perfect. Definitely will be back!"

"Décor was unique and interesting, right down to dessert spoons. All four plates we ordered were fantastic as was our wine. I was very pleased as Sous Sol did not disappoint making my Husbands birthday dinner special"
