"At a time when most « eateries » can’t call them restautants) are serving the same menu everywhere charcuterie platters, pinse, tartare steak , tacos, and so forth, Booooring) this is a real restaurant. There are a couple of other good ones in Barga one serving traditional Tuscan dishes which are excellent, and another specializing in fish, while Scacciaguai has wisely chosen to have more sophisticated dishes, and it was refreshing. Kudos to the young owners. The ambiance is pleasant and intimate, the service is smiling and friendly. Riccardo is extremely competent with the wines. They have an extensive wine list, focusing on Tuscan wines and even more on the local ones from Lucca province. Prices range from 11 Euros to well over 100 for some of the Tuscan reds so there is something for everyone. We chose a nice Poggio dei Paoli from Tenuta Lenzi at 22 Euros and it was perfect. Food: Both Porcini and Truffles from the Garfagnana have arrived, and I love both. I started out with the best way to eat truffles: two fried eggs. The eggs were perfectly cooked the white firm and the yolk pleasantly runny. The truffle shavings on top were just right. My friend opted for potato gnocchi filled with sheep ricotta with sauteed grape tomatoes. We followed that with guinea fowl breast cooked sous vide and roast friggitelli peppers. Finished off with a chocolate soufflee filled with melted chocolate. A digestif was offered on the house. A really lovely experience. well worth going back The price was right too of course it wasn’t cheap, but the food wasn’t either: Excellent quality ingredients, Excellent chef. Bravo!"

"We have a house nearby and were delighted when this restaurant opened last year. We have not been able to get here for all of this year due to Covid but were delighted to see the restaurant appeared to be doing well. We booked in last week and had a delicious meal- the swordfish and tuna fantastic and the wine list very interesting and the English speaking waitress very attentive and helpful. That said, we booked in a few nights ago and as we were celebrating, we ordered the lobster pasta at 25 Euros Per person. The pasta came with a lobster shell, mine with one leg on it and my partners with a few legs. When we pointed out that we expected a bit more lobster, the waitress took my partners away and returned his dish to him with half of a very small lobster tail, When we asked about mine, she brought someone whom we think was the owner, and he just shrugged and said “it’s free”. When the bill came, mine was gratis and we were charged for my partners. We found the behaviour very odd and were disappointed, feeling that we had been taken advantage of. We are not Italian, but we are here often and do our best to patronise the local businesses. It really is a shame because it is a delightful place otherwise."

"We stopped in for lunch mid-afternoon and were surprised to find a worker’s lunch menu. for a complete meal. Good food, good price, good service, good atmosphere, good jazz music. And the Calico Jack beer from Red Jack Brewing was a special treat for...me. Favoloso!"
