"After reading some previous reviews I wasn’t sure the choice of this restaurant to meet friends was a good idea. However upon arrival we were pleased with the setting, an outdoor courtyard with shade and the attentive staff. The menu du jour was which...consisted of gazpacho, salmon lasagne and peaches in wine and ice cream. Wines were reasonably priced although there wasn’t a “house wine” as such. Overall a very pleasant afternoon, good value for money, friendly, helpful staff and easy parking opposite."

"This is our third visit to this family-run restaurant. The welcome was arm and genuine, the cooking really excellent and the price (we chose the €70 menu which included excellent wine) was substantial but fair. We will come again!"

"This little bakery has dining areas outside when warm and upstairs when cold. The staff speak little English, but are delightfully helpful. The bakery goods are as good as any in Carcassonne and the coffee is excellent. We stayed in Carcassonne for nine days and would have visited the bakery at least six times - and every time met other English or Australians doing the same. Definitely the best cafe on the square."

"You can't really go wrong with pancakes, so service is what makes the difference. I went earlier this week at 8.15pm, thinking it was plenty of time as it closes at 10.30. However, we were turned away as it was apparently closing, over 2 hours...early, for no particular reason. I went back tonight and it did nothing to improve my opinion of the place. The service was incredibly slow, two parties of people who had arrived after us were served before us throughout our meal, and when it was time for dessert, we had next to no choice as they had run out of basic ingredients like apples, ice cream or chantilly! We, again had to wait to be able to pay as the staff were more interested in putting away clean plates and the rest for the following day than looking after customer. Again, they started turning people away from 8.30pm. It looks as though their interpretation of closing at 10.30pm is actually going home at that time!So really not impressed and won't go back"

"We have often sat at this excellent cafe to watch the world go by and have a coffee or (particularly recommended!) a hot chocolate. Their cakes are yummy but even in winter I find it difficult to resist their ice-creams and smoothies. There is a wonderful choice of both. It's the place where the locals go to relax and meet with friends, as well as a great place for tourists to sit and relax. The owners are a delightful family and there is very much a family atmosphere in the cafe."

"Popped in a couple of times while exploring Carcassone. Once to grab a cookie while on the go and another to sit down for a drink and a muffin. Quite expensive but probably average for the Cité. Friendly English speaking staff. Suited our needs."
