"Our favourite place for breakfast and brunch. The Eggs Florintine is consistently superb. Great service with a lovely setting especially on a warm summers morning. Plenty of room outside to enjoy great food and good company."

"I don't drink coffee so I ordered the iced chocolate or non coffee frappacino, weather was warmer than usual, it was perfect, delicious and just the pick me up I needed after having a dud lunch earlier on."

"What a treat to be able to challenge your taste sensibilities with such an amount of different flavours and textures. Attentive staff always on hand to clear the clutter and fill the glasses and provide a help on what you are ordering. This was the one place we expected good food, but the experience was more around how the different ingredients can provide a contrasting taste based on what you decide to use in that mouthful. You could get three different taste experiences from the one plate. Not the choice for cheap and cheerful, but for spoiling and feeling special with the associated price. We had the Scallops and Venison starters followed by the Chicken and Salmon mains. Oh and a few cocktails."

"Lunch at the newly refurbished Backbencher today, with every meal receiving a 5/5 star rating! I had the roasted cauliflower bowl- not sure of exact details but combination of roasted cauli., finely chopped spinach, chickpeas in a yummy sauce???, egg, humus, and cos lettuce! I was after something light, but it was really great value for money and not mean with portions, so much so that I couldn’t finish it. Smashed burger was perfect I am told while the pigs in a blanket accompanied with 2 types of mustard, was tasty! Bowl of fries were the bomb!!! Staff super accomodating and polite while the decor was great! Loved the newest versions of politicians on display- a perfect Winston with scotch and ciggy, Chris L, Chloe S, David S, Judith C and Jerry B! I always measure a good pub on their bathrooms- clean and well stocked! We’ll be back."

"Great Staff...the coffee was fantastic as they use Havana Works yay!!!! The beef casserole pie was yummy $7.50 a bit much maybe not) as it had huge chunks of beef in it and the pastry was flaky and delicious. Will definitely visit again"

"This is one of our local cafés in Island Bay and my review is an assemblage of multiple visits. The deli style cafe serves Tex-Mex fare, home-made pies and the usual selection of cakes and baked treats. Service can be patchy at busy times but is invariably friendly. Seating outside provides a cooling breeze and access to Island Bay village. A solid performer without being truly memorable."

"Really cute cafe. Great staff, friendly and make great coffee. Great bake case. Nice open kitchen pumping out stellar food! Free wifi, we posted up working for a few hours a couple mornings and didn't get to many bad looks. People don't care for people posting up to long in cafes with Internet. But this cafe had no where to charge our computer so that's one way to keep people from staying allday! Thanks!!<br/"
