What Ian S likes about The Backbencher Gastropub:
World famous in Wellington. The backbencher is on lower molesworth street opposite parliament and a few minutes walk from the bus and train stations. Attentive staff, good food at normal pricing. A variety of tap beers available. Gets very busy after work, so best to reserve a table for after knockoff drinks with colleagues. View all feedback.

What Sandra C doesn't like about The Backbencher Gastropub:
Terrible service for a great iconic place. We went at 4.30pm Friday. Staff really didnt seem to be engaged in service. They gathered around bar talking. Food great but, plates and glasses left for 1 hour we moved them ourselves. Will never bother going back again when Wellington is full of experienced and caring staff. View all feedback.
