"We had booked a table for but arrived a little early. We were offered the choice of eating inside or outside. We chose to eat inside. We ordered large breakfasts, pancakes with fruit and a pot of tea for four. The tea arrived and then nothing happened for about half an hour. We asked where our breakfasts were and were told there is only one person in the kitchen and he is dealing with a backlog of orders, it didn't seem particularly busy to us. Why didn't someone come and explain this to us instead of us having to ask? When the food arrived it was very good however I asked for my eggs to be fried until the yolk was well and truly set they didn't manage this."

"This pub/restaurant was picked using a 'halfway between ' website as we were meeting friends from Lichfield. Their website looked good and so we booked. The tables were sticky, presumably as a result of too much sanitiser. The menu was not extensive but adequate for all tastes but the food was not presented well and one order of lamb burger looked pathetic. My fish was overdone but as we had had a fair wait for service we persevered. Desserts were ok, but I question the brain of the chef/server in serving my ice cream dessert on a red hot plate. We are not food snobs we ask only good food at reasonable price The prices here are expensive for what we were served."

"Small and friendly pub with warm and homely atmosphere. Not the widest menu but all food was hot and tasty and freshly cooked. Prices reasonable and friendly staff. Worth calling in if in the area."

"Absolutely useless ! Put an order in via the Just Eat App and food took ages to turn up . Phoned the branch and they were less than helpful. Won’t be using again."

"After getting home and thrown into cold and darkness..due to a meter fault..orderd up a delivery. Burgers and fries were fantastic.. my hubby devoured it and what i had left as too full.. amazing service and fab food"

"If you are looking for a TransCafe experience on your Midlands journey, stop off at Junction 1 of the A14 and follow the café signs. The Portly Ford Café serves all day breakfast and hot sandwiches. The £6.40 Full English is recommended, with good bacon, excellent black pudding, and sausage just how you would wish them to be for a greasy fry up. Avoid the sandwiches which are more bread than filling (only two slices of bacon). If you like your tea hot and strong, this is the motorway services for you! Sit in or take away. Open Monday Thursday 6am to 10pm, and Friday 6am 8pm."
