"I say dry because many places in Canberra do theirs very oily. Some may prefer it that way, especially as it often gives a rich flavour, but this place gets a lot of flavour in their drier version - I don't know popular pide is in Kabul, but this tastes a lot like Afghan BBQ that I've had in the past. The restaurant is pretty simple and priced well."

"In early February my wife and I were looking for somewhere near the Heritage Hotel to have breakfast and we discovered Societea at Griffith. It had only just been taken over by a delightful Chinese Australian couple it was formerly called Antz Pantz. We think the new name is much better and doesn't remind us of underpants commercials! The couple, aided by their teenage son during the school holidays and an Ethiopian university student on her uni vacation, made us feel extremely welcome and their service was impeccable. We bought take away coffees and home made cakes feshly baked by the proprietress. We enjoyed the friendly service and the food so much we went back the next two mornings for more of the same, also trying a delicious BLT. The cafe has indoor seating in a small arcade and a couple of tables under cover outside on the footpath. We enjoyed the experience and chatting to the owners so much we went back twice on our next visit to Canberra in mid February. This business deserves to succeed. I guess most of its business is from locals because Griffith shops are tucked away in the suburb although there are several well known restaurants there including L'Aubergine and Rubicon. Societea is definitely worth a detour to Griffith!"

"We came as a big group to celebrate Chinese New Year. I suppose any excuse to hang out and bond with the team is a good thing. Chinese food in Canberra hasn't has the best track record with me with most foods being slightly manipulated to cater more for the western taste buds. They needed us to submit an order beforehand and they prepped the meal. Out of around orders they only made one mistake the food came out quick quickly once we all got seated. With the mistake order they did a very good job to replace it with something more suitable and everyone was happy at the end of the day. Their prices are good, their food is edible but not authentic enough, and they have a lots of seating area. Located in the busy area of Manuka, it caters well for the locals and doesn;t charge an arm and a leg. The decore upstairs lacks compared to downstairs but other than that no real complaints."
