"Latimer's delicious crab or prawn sandwiches from their take away hatch has sustained us through many a visit to the seaside over the pandemic months. We usually take our sandwiches, possibly with a mug of chunky and creamy fish chowder and always with a cup of tea, to the seats over looking the spectacular Whitburn Sands. Then we either walk along the beach or along the Seaburn costal walk towards South Shields.Invariably, we then go to Latimer's well stocked shop, and but some fish to take home. We have sampled cod, salmon and anchovies and hake so far, all obviously fresh and delicious.We can't wait until the restuarant opens again. Friends have waxed lyrical about Latimer's naked fish and chips, with the fish arriving wrapped in foil straight from the oven (which is how we cook fish at home). The seafood platters look fantastic, too. We will sample the restauant for sure, as soon as we can. Then perhaps we will give a star review, which seemed a bit much for just a sandwich however good it was!"

"Based in Age UK, the cafe is first floor (with a lift), and is very bright and airy. Well appointed, the staff are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help. The cafe is visited by all age groups but mostly over 50's. All prices are very reasonable! The food includes cold drinks, teas coffee, hot and cold sandwiches and salads, healthy snacks and nibbles, Jackets, Kym's home made cakes (Yum) and there are weekly cookery demonstrations. Friday is Stir Fry day :-D"

"The address has changed, it’s now downstairs and about twenty yards away, but this place is great. Mostly home cooked and well priced food with great staff and an understated but cosy venue. Plenty on offer with entertainment evenings and comedy clubs. Kids films shown at Christmas with Santa. I like this place and it’s so accessible with my pram. Great."

"Then check out this amazing place for a private party for Christmas with a twist. Booked for 15 for a family Christmas get together, what can I say .. fabulous night, food was exceptional, drinks were something else.. (got to give the gin and vodka teapots a go), also the cocktails and mocktails for the kids.…fabulous. Staff had permanent smiles and nothing was too much trouble for them. Beautiful surroundings. Would not hesitate to recommend this little gem 100% Thank you Jane and the girls for a truly wonderful night."
