"I loved the White Horse during my time living in Westbury on Trym for a year in 2020/2021, so much that we were going there almost every week, because of the high quality, delicious food with interesting twists and very professional and nice staff. I was looking forward to visiting again after moving back to Bristol, and could not be more disappointed. The food is now average. The Sunday roast I ordered was generous in portion but only ok in taste. The sweet potato mash was watery, the nut loaf did not taste of nuts, and the roasted potatoes were very hard. The staff is nice, but definitely not trained to the level of the team under previous ownership. We booked a table for 2pm, but our reservation was written down as 1pm, and we ended up in a dark room at the back with no windows. I saw the person on the bar picking up ice cubes with their hand and putting it in a glass and then proceeding to pour customers' drinks. It was not terrible, but I won't come back."

"My second time in this Pan-Asian restaurant, and the experience few months since the initial one was just as fantastic. Plenty of proper tasty options for your vegan and vegetarian friends. We had a few starters (fish cakes were so tasty, tempura prawns, same, but vegetarian half moon dumplings, and chili salt tofu a revelation! Pad Thai, very flavoursome, sambal ditto, but it's the thick egg noodles with squid, muscles and scallops that took the prize. Our vegan friend's main of curry was reportedly awesome!"

"Big fan of a BYOB personally so that’s already a great start. Authentic restaurant, staff were nice, prices were decent and the food was lovely! Had a great time here and will be returning in the future."

"Horrible food terrible service overcharged. Don’t eat here! My glass had chipped rim, food was tasteless and dry, the dessert on the fixed menu was a dry cut up single orange between 2 of us! 10% service charge on everything!! I felt sick after. The waitresses ignored us completely and when we complained and said we refused to pay the service charge, they added on an extra beer! The worst food I’ve eaten in years. I hope I’m not ill now. update my husband and I are feeling unwell this evening after eating lunchtime."

"In the absence of restaurants in the immediate vicinity and being unconvinced by a local pub we decide to take dinner at the hotel restaurant--and was very happy with the decision. My fish and chips was beautifully cooked and our shared starter of tempura prawns was the best I have eaten for a long time. The wine list is reasonably priced with several bottles around the early £20 mark. The service was both friendly and professional and I would certainly be happy to eat here again. It is not a 'destination ' restaurant and is too clean and minimal to be a romantic destination but if you are staying in the area on business and don 't fancy the walk taxi into the quayside/ centre this restaurant is one to keep in mind."
