"Velvet Taco in Chicago is one of those new fangled taco joint that have sprung up selling tacos that are a little bit different, a little bit funky or as they describe themselves ‘Tacos without Borders’. I came along to check them out mainly as I had seem some pretty interesting and unexpected combinations such as ‘Spicy Tikka Chicken’, ‘Nashville Tofu’, and ‘Shrimp and Grits’ listed on their menu."

"Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Every dish was unique but still traditional. The inverted crab tostada was bright fresh with just hint of spice. The lamb carnitas taco was probably my favorite — it was perfectly seasoned had a great char. The avocado salad was a great palate cleanser the final dish (sirloin was cooked to a perfect rare the black garlic mole chimichurri were amazing. We had the churro for dessert it was fried perfectly. (I wish the chile peanut butter was a little spicier but that’s my only nit to pick. Drinks were great too. Overall a delicious meal from beginning to end an impressive showing from a relatively young restaurant. We’ll definitely be back."

"With today's fast pace and the fact that most people who provide any type of service have more work than they can handle, good service may be considered a rare treat. With that said, I want you to know how much we along with our friends that we brought with us enjoyed our dining experience at Rojo gusano on Lawrence. From the food, to the mezcal tasting and desert, overall amazing food and service. The owner Rafael and son Luis who were serving us were knowledgeable and welcoming.
